ATTN: Freedom server instability

Please check this thread out and add to it with your evidence, let's get some GMs aware on this.

We saw the Shard go down around 1045pm Eastern, and mapservers were hitting server-wide about 1105pm onward. Try to login to a toon in the Shard and you get "Character X is still logging out", or "cannot connect to DBserver".

I was in Cap, and I was having Mapserver issues. I eventually DCd, and was unable to reconnect.

I may be wrong, but there has been a number instabilities over the last 5 days on the Freedom Server. I initially blamed it on my ISP but now I'm not so sure...

I added to the main thread, but to summarize here, I was damage farming inside a mission last night and I am still online right now. The only thing I seem to have experienced was my global servers being dropped from my chat tabs, which was easily re-added with /chatload.

I don't know if I ever mapserved or lagged at all, but it never fully disconnected and the server has not been reset yet.

Because of how the instanced missions work, you're likely to be more stable inside those than in a common zone. We saw a similar behavior last night where we'd just finished a hot Rularuu fight, we all Exited... then kaboom. Oddly, after we reconnected 40 minutes later, we hoofed to the mission, went in, and ALSO saw instabilities inside there too, which AFAIK is very unusual based on what we saw.

I dunno. I know Virtue's been having stability issues for a good while now. Maybe we caught something from them.

Indeed. I was just trying to say that the server has not yet been fully reset yet, so I'm thinking that whatever reasons the server was having problems last night might not have really been fixed yet other than the population/load being reduced so far today.

Wasn't discounting what you said; read what I wrote in full. To reword it: In the past, it's always been more likely that you'd be rock solid in an instanced map, BUT last night we saw that challenged by getting MSDC messages while within several missions.

That's what my point was; "yeah, it should be stabler like that, but even that got *****'d last night." Which is very unusual.

I totally got what you said. I don't think you got what I was trying to say though..

I wasn't even trying to say my instance was stable at all other than it's still connected. Like I said, I was not actively playing to be able to notice any power delays, chat lag, rubber-banding or anything else. It's very possible I would have, but I was not at the computer to experience it, and if I did or didn't was not the point of my post.

I completely agree with you. My point was that since I am still connected ever since last night, then the server has not been down to undergo any extra reset or maintenance to fix the problems, and we should watch for it while playing again tonight.. or at least until we know the server has been reset.

Yeah, and I got your point and it makes me want to cry. Don't know if I can take another night of this darn TF if the server is going to dork out on us.

Some hope: A senior GM sent me a response to my petition and qualified last night's events, and their resolution of it. Waiting on permission to copypasta here, as it's significant to the server playerbase, but to summarize: They saw it, said it should be all fixed now.

Man, I feel bad for those in TFs. I had just finished one and was in WW when I got mapserved. Didn't bother coming back so I missed all the un-fun.

The only reason we were able to get done before Team Luna because I cleared several missions in the afternoon since I was off work. If it weren’t for the stupid computers that had to be clicked at the same time, I would have done more.

Sorry Luna for your teams unfortunate experience.

I wasn't sure the state of mind Turg was in when I was first to log back in from being locked out but all I read was "Betty, hurry and get the next mish quick!" (Something along that line)

No, there's a hefty f'in fee
And if you don't throw in your buck 'o five
Who will?

What would you do
If someone told you to fight for freedom
Would you answer the call
Or run away like a little [cat]

So maybe now it's your turn

Oo, buck 'o five

Hey, it was for your protection, I wanted you to get in an instanced mish before the next mapserve bout hit the zone. (Of course, didn't help us much after we entered either..)

Well my ISP sent out a Tech yesterday and he validated I was dropped 40 times in one day. LOL It looks like I have an older CAT 5 cable running under the house that may need replacement. He also found a signal amp (?) under the house that was supposed to boost the signal. He disconnected that device and I haven't had any issues.

So now I just have to worry about our server.
