So yes I'm a silly person and when I read kirby style I thought of the Nintendo character, well now I got even sillier and played with photoshop!

So now I know what it would look like if Astral Flame was swallowed by a strange, pink, power stealing alien!

My turn to run to Wikipedia.

These pink Kirby things have been around since 1992? I'd never heard of them. Is that odd? I did know about the comic artist though.

If someone formed a club, we could both join it. I never had a clue. I am soooo old.

Amy: when you say Kirby in this forum, we always mean Jack King Kirby... but that was pretty funny.

(and yes, I automatically though of Jack "King of the Comics" Kirby when I saw this thread)

I'm tempted to commission it! Luckily, I'm tapped out.

I think it was my recent commission that got Amy curious about the other Kirby.

Actually, THERE ya go... free download by Inker Extraordinaire, Brian Denham or Danerot of DA fame. His Kirby Krackles brush, makes doing Jack Kirby a breeze...

I've actually made 3 of my own based on Jack's inks, well Joe Sinott's, but it's the same thing. Allows you all those wonderful dots, with a single stroke on the tablet.

Enjoy!

Thanks, LJ! I'm not artist but these will be fun to play around with in Photoshop!

It is worth mentioning, germane to the discussion, that Kirby-style really goes beyond the mere use of the Kirby Krackle/Dots. Kirby had a very distinctive way of drawing anatomy, armor, and machinery that is still pretty unique in comic art. I never really appreciated his stuff until I got older but now I can't get enough of it.

Guess I'm the only one who thinks vacuum cleaners when they hear Kirby...

I guess vacuum cults just kind of stick in my mind.

Absolutely, and I'm the same way... I've been downloading stuff of his all day, it's like finding gold.

My order of thinking when Kirby is mentioned.

First my little buddy Kirby(named for all three of the following for different reasons)

Second the vacuum cleaner we bought..I love this vacuum it can suck the sphincter out of a cat.

third Jack King Kirby

and fourth the Nintendo character.

Caem, LJ...we need to get better schedules.

Don't forget the late but fine actor, Bruno Kirby.

Scootz - I'm earning a paychech here, what's your excuse??

And I must ask, do you find yourself needing to suck the sphincter out of a cat very often??????

Glad you like your vacuum though... Did the door to door cult get you or did you buy without being strongarmed?

Cultist...but got a really really good deal.

and no I don't think i have ever needed to suck the sphincter out of a cat. But I could if the need arised, not that I would.

Well in honour of the artist kirby and mostly because I just had an exam so its time to unwind I present Kirby style Kirby!

Okay so he probaly wouldn't have drawn kirby quite so minimilistic but hey its a pink featureless ball, thats about the limit of my artisticness!

Anyway it was this or sticking Kirby's hair on Kirby's head to show what happens if Kirby swallowed Kirby

OK, now for extra fun credit: Create Kirby itself out of pink Kirby Dots.
