Flashback Missions NOT Awarding Badges
Wrong place for this.
If you look at the top of the forum where it lists the forum name, it also gives a description. That description was also on the page listing the various subsections of the forums.
You'll see that the description for this forum reads as follows:
Quote:
So, if you really want help with this, email the support team at support@coh.com
Discuss technical questions and/or bugs here! This is NOT a forum where official technical/QA support is available. To report a bug use the /bug command in game. For technical assistance email support@coh.com |
Also, this is something that can be handled through an ingame /petition as well.
Also, you can go to the plaync.com website and file a support ticket there for help with your problems.
If you run a flashback mission that should be awarding a badge but isn't, immediately file a /bug report as well as a /petition. That will get it into QA's hands to see why the badge isn't awarding as well as getting GM help in YOU getting the badge. Bug reports don't deal with issues on your account, only the /petition system does that.
If you file a /bug report, it goes to QA so they can try to replicate the problem and if they can find reproducible steps to cause this behavior 100% of the time, they pass that information along to the programmers to look at and find a solution to correct it. If it can't be replicated reliably, they can't find the cause of the problem. On the other hand, if you file a /petition, that goes to the Customer Service department and is dealt with by the GM's. Any action dealing with your account is handled by this team. Make sure that the email on file on your account is correct and isn't being blocked by your ISP or email provider.
By the way, this isn't a Dev problem, it's a Customer Service problem.
Calling out the Devs is against the forum rules and guidelines anyway.
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Make sure you're doing Flashbacks that even grant badges in the first place. Badge missions and badge arcs (for instance, the Fortuneteller mission) will allow you to restrict your character/buff your enemies, but will not award Flashback-restriction-related badges.

Yeah, I get that.
In fact, this IS a discussion of a Technical Question, perhaps even specifically the bug that's keeping Flashback missions from listing/awarding badges correctly.
If you go back and re-read (or read) my OP, you'll see I mentioned all those venues for assistance as having been ineffective.
And nobody was "calling out the Devs".
As of this morning - after posting here, in fact - I did get a response to my e-mails and in-game/bug reports.
Therefore, this post, in this venue, was to share my experience of the Technical Problem and Bug issue at hand with others who might be experiencing the same frustration.
Clearly, that's not you, but hey, in the words of Park Ranger Park, "Thanks for a great question."

Thanks, Aggelakkis, that does appear to be one problem. Alas even missions that SHOULD award badges are not doing so. This is one of the things a very helpful GM is looking into for me now.

Rather than spend a lot of time and effort on micro-managing this, I'd suggest the simplest solution be that, irrespective of a mission's "story arc" status, any time players successfully complete any Flashback mission while accepting voluntary disabilites, they should get the badges for successful completion operating under those disabilities.
I know that a LOT of players who have been here for 6 years aren't really keen on going through 30+ missions all over again, multiple times, with our already-nerfed powers further disabled, reduced or otherwise rendered moot, to earn - all over again - badges which we should have received retroactively a long time ago.
Whether they are part of a story arc or not, if a mission gave a badge in its original incarnation, it should qualify for giving badges in Flashbacks with modifications.
That's just smart customer service, in addition to being an easy and valid technical issue/bug fix.

I see nothing there specifying that you have filed a /petition or filed a support ticket on the PlayNC support site, only bug reports.
I have sent MULTIPLE requests and bug reports to have this problem dealt with on my account, and to date, nothing. |
Since that is the only thing you specifically mentioned, that is the point I addressed. Had you mentioned specifically /petitions or support tickets, I wouln't have commented on that. It still surprises me how many long time players don't know that there is a difference between /bug and /petition.
Yes, you did call out the Devs. Right there at the end of your post.

I would disagree. Some of the badge missions are extremely short and easy and should NOT award the challenge badges since it's not really a challenge.

I agree with Ironblade. Besides the fact that they are not real challenges, they are not even Arcs either. The badges are supposed to be granted for doing Arcs with the challenges set. Stand-alone badge missions do not qualify.

I believe they are only available on the list to allow people to quickly get the badge missions they missed when leveling up, not to really be included in the series of arcs, which is why they are found at the bottom of the list in each section.
Villainside however, some of the badge missions are merged into longer story arcs, and those arcs may qualify for the challenge badges.. at least last time I ran Paragon of Vice (for example), it worked just fine.
Another message for the OP:
Challenge badges are not awarded upon completion of the last mission. You will get your merits and the results screen will appear, but you wont get the challenge badges until you talk to the contact again to close the arc. I've seen situations where people quit after the last mission and wonder why they never got the badges for being successful.
Ooooohh! See, now this I did not know. Good little tidbit.

YUMMY Low-Hanging Fruit for BASE LUV
For the past couple of weeks, I've been running my main, 6-year-old Level 50 through Flashback missions, trying to earn lower level Orobouros badges at various difficulty settings: No Travel Powers, AT Powers only etc.
NONE of the badges I've earned have been awarded.
It doesn't matter where I access the Crystal (SG Base or Orobouros), what my personal settings are (all baseline, +0 level, +8, -1) or what level of Flashback missions I access (1-15 through 46-50), I have received NONE of the badges I've earned.
Also, I ran the Ernesto Hess TF when it first came out, before badges, and have done it several times since. All other TFs awarded badges retroactively, but I still haven't received the "Burkholder's Bane" badge, despite having competed the TF successfully AGAIN since badges went live.
I have sent MULTIPLE requests and bug reports to have this problem dealt with on my account, and to date, nothing.
I don't expect the badges to be awarded for free - although I can't see why I should have to run these mission YET AGAIN - but I DO expect to get the badges when I have done everything stated in the game as being required to earn them.
So;
What's the hold-up with fixing this problem, Devs?
