Critical Lightning Rod?

Before I get too excited about this idea (which I already am some), I wanted to ask and see if this is how it works.

Attacks from hide give critical hits, unless it's AS then it's even more damage. My Question is if I use Lightning Rod from Electric Melee (the TP one), because it's a pseudo pet thingy, does that mean it doesn't get critical hits for all opponent or it does because I'm in hide and it's me doing it. My guess (for balance) it would be the former to where I don't get critical hits with it (though I'd get it with Thunderstrike, which still isn't bad).

Just thought I'd confirm before getting to level 32 and being disappointed.

Also, Lightning rod has such a consistent knockdown to it that you can almost always pull that AS off without a problem, provided you activate it immediately. Secondly, using Leviathan for Water Spout, if you lay down a water spout followed by a lightning rod you can usually go straight into an AS, as neither of those affects hide's cool down; only works if you are not hit during this, obviously. Great for AV fights.

another cool thing I love is LR in.. knock em all on their *****- build up then Thunderstrike- the single target is always critted and all around are 50%.. I've slaughtered spawns doing this...

This is one of my favorites, although usually I BU before the Lightning Rod, then TS. The 50% critical from Hide on the AoE portion can make it a lot better than LR->AS for most spawns. My Elec/Nin also has Ball Lightning to tack on at the end to mop up all the little things so I can just placate and AS anything that had enough hit points to live.

You know, I really wish they would change Golden Dragonfly to have a 100% crit from hide on the intended target like Thunder strike at least; its kind of annoying to have your baddest single target attack besides AS only get the AoE crit chance. Plus it's not like ninja blade is so full of AoE's that they couldn't give Golden Dragonfly the 100% crit for all targets hit. I think the power says, after all, that it is supposed to have a slightly higher crit rate than other powers in the set. just whining.
