Confused about critters and XP

From a few things I've read, it seems that having hostages in an MA arc cuts the xp, is this true? For non-buffing, non-fighting hostages?

Also, changes are coming with Going Rogue that will change XP rewards in the AE, ...yet again.

Oh good..more changes. Bleh. SO If i have hostages that just leave when freed, they won't affect xp. good to know, thanks!

You are correct. Hostages in the back of a cave will be a drain for a long time after being freed. overland city maps are decent because there are lots of nearby doors for them to use.

Correct. Allied entities appear to only be a drain as long as they are present on the map. This means:

When captives and escorts leave the map, they stop being drains.

When friendly entities are defeated, they stop being drains when the body fades.

Friendly entities are not drains until they spawn. Which means, if their spawning is triggered by another objective, they will not drain XP until they actually spawn. Also, if it's a big map, they may not spawn immediately upon loading, in which case they won't become drains until they actually spawn.

I'd like to confirm that non-combat hostages drain XP.

And if it didn't need to be confirmed, I'd like to vent that non-combat hostages drain XP. Ick, this one is so bad I'm not even going to bother updating my other arc for Issue 17.
