Knockback experiment
I know ra 6-slots his kb powers with kb ios (or something silly like that) and can get through builds that would normally stay on their feet. Can also use the base buff, if you're in zone.

I always thought that as you can not 100% mez protect yourself against holds and sleep and confuse and such there should be a catch with kB. I would love that even with KB protection there should be a CHANCE ROLL to bypass the protection. Say like 5% chance to bypass if the KB mag is over 20. This would be in PVE and PVP.

oh and about ra 6 slotting, is 6 really needed or would 5 and 1 acc do? ive just never seen much questioning over kb since everyone just assumes 41 is the magic number.
i want to ignore base buffs, unless they work in the arena(not sure, i never use them). ive never seen any rules against their use in any tourneys over the years, but if they work and noone cares then this post was pointless.

has anyone tested what beats the most common IO slotting of -41 is what i really want to know, and if not does anyone want to?
Base buffs work in arena i think. It still wont work overall as people can get the kb prot base buff which is much higher than the +kb base buff. Either way its only forcebolt that works without gimping yourself.
I had an idea...
almost everyone is slotting for 41 points of knockback protection to avoid knockback from powers like energy assault's power push that you can slot for obscene amounts of kb. what if there was a way to increase that total just enough to surpass the 41 and result in knockback? people would be caught with their pants down.
playing with mids, i added 5 targetted aoe powers to a fire/energy dom and slotted them all with 2 pieces of air burst for the additional knockback set bonus. i ran the numbers with a few typical and atypical slottings on power push to see the effects:
slotting__________ base -> with air burst
6 slot kinetic crash - 45.5 -> 47.2
3 slot level 50 kb IO - 45.8 -> 47.4
4 slot level 50 kb IO - 47.7 -> 49.3
5 slot level 50 kb IO - 49.6 -> 51.2
6 slot level 50 kb IO - 51.5 -> 53.1
so, has anyone tested the viability of this as a way to exploit this weakness in alot of builds? im not a big test server user or affiliated with any of the test sgs so i wouldnt know if this was tried during some beta etc., but it seems to make sense in my head at least. depending on the response to this thread i was planning to mess with a build that incorporates this in and try to put it into practice.
(note: i know the number 41 is a pve value and in pvp it drops to somewhere around 9.8 but lets keep it this way for simplicity's sake, unless someone can tell me the dr curve for kb and kb protection)
