Look here for another acceptable definition of compact.
Scroll down to number 2, where it says a "formal agreement between two or more parties" and "contract."

I know its a little stupid thing but it has been bugging the heck out of me.
Why does the demon dialogue always say "compact" when it means to say "contract"?
That cannot be just a "typo" that got missed, as someone suggested.
