Video Recording
Heyas Mercator,
First I would start in the Multi-Media City of Heroes and Villains forum.
I would then look at the top of the forum at the stickies.

While this is a good place to start, feel free to skim the threads in there and soak up the tips and tricks.
I use a program called Fraps to take video footage and for screenshots, you can download a trial version. Even on my rubbish old computer it has no hit on performance as it runs in the background.
Follow Shadow's info first. You'll find you're using /demorecord in game, then something like Fraps to record the playback. (Does Zloth's demo editor and player still work?)
You *can* use Windows Movie Maker to put it into a more reasonably sized video, edit, etc. but - especially with the latest version - there are *much* better tools out there. (Really don't like the Windows Live version of WMM. Stripped too much out. 2.1 on XP was ok for something basic.)
I have successfully used Zloth's on this issue. That said, we're only weeks away from a new issue with new graphic stuff, so who knows after that.
Dec out.
Having made my I-17 trailer, I confirmed that demorecording and whatnot works just fine with Ultra Mode and whatnot. And Zloth updated his Demo Launcher to work with Ultra Mode.

If you go with Fraps, grab VirtualDub. Load the GIANT video Fraps creates in it, then Video -> Compression and select something like XVid or MPeG4 or whatever, then File -> Save as AVI. That'll get the gigantic video Fraps created down to a more managable size (I get it down to about 10% when converting to XVid, with no real loss in quality that I can see; YMMV with better graphics cards and monitors, of course)
Likely in the wrong listing, but here goes.
I'm considering putting together some videos of powers in action, play styles. Wondering what tools are good or suggested for recording your play sessions.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
