I actually use Quasar quite a bit*. I find a pack of foes, superspeed with Cloak on, Eclipse, Mire, Quasar, pop a blue, Stygian Circle, get a fluffball. I have to watch the location since Quasar can throw them quite a ways apart so I prefer corner-like areas so it is very map dependent.
* Well more than Stygian Return.

In terms of getting LotG I have fond that by just doing story arcs from 5-24 Ive managed to accumilate 100 or so merits so Im not to worried about where I am going to get them for my Mule powers as I haven't even run any TFs yet,
