Dp/ ???
Which tricks do you want in your bag?
Energy = melee and GTFO kb.
Dev = mixed assortment that's a little more solo oriented, or very patient teams.
Mental = Can't remmeber the powers off the top of my head, I think it's rather controllery.
well i need something with good damage and maybe holds, knockbacks, survivability
i read that dev is kind of weak but i dunno really.

Shiver makes mobs take longer to get to you and it guts their recharge. It's almost like speeding up the animation times on the DP attacks. Ice patch is cute, useful at times. You also get a hold to stack with suppresive fire. Chilblain is the best single target immob among blaster secondaries, it does damage and -spd -rech even if the immob doesn't stick.
I don't see anything special about energy, devices or mental in terms of how they compliment DP in the survival department.
Lot of people get all excited about boost range but between boost range and shiver I'd rather have shiver, as that lowers recharge as well. Personally I think boost range is marginally useful in PvE under some very specific circumstances. Unless you have mad cones, then it becomes much more useful.
Devices has caltrops, very handy power, but no build up. If I were to choose between caltrop and build up, I'd choose build up, especially considering the fact that DP has no aim. I can get invis from SS+IO on my other blaster builds so at best cloaking device is a LoTG mule. Trip mine just takes too long to set up.
Mental has Drain Psyche, a single target kb and a single target fear. Shockwave isn't that reliable as a stun and WoC is a joke. A lot of these require you to be in melee range though and overall I feel the mitigation value these provide pale in comparison to one single application of shiver. Scream does do -recharge though, and it does decent damage and the cone has a pretty long range.
On the plus side, EM does have two fast hard hitting melee attacks to augment your offense, and mental has two extra aoes to augment your offense. If you are of the "kill them first before they kill me" school then these will be of more value to you.

i'm trying DP/ice now its not bad i was using DP/Eng before was having fun with the knockback punch but figured if i can root the targets or slow em down it might be better then just knocking one back lol.
i need some help on what the best secondary would be for a dual pistol blaster i was thinking mental, energy or device they are all pretty good from what i can see and i'm soloing so what would give me the best bag of tricks ?

With that train of thought DP/Electric could also work well.
When I first heard about DP, my first thought was DP/device or traps/DP
Now that I have seen more of the set in action, I think /devices offers a small measure of safety, but is more geared to a the blaster that wants to stay "at range" and therefore not as good a "fit" for DP as I first thought. Traps, on the other hand, is a good choice for a defender (You asked about a Blaster, so ignore this part )
hope your choice turns out well for you. Good Luck

I enjoy the DP/Ice Blaster I have on Test. Shiver, Chilling Embrace, and Cold Ammo are great for slowing down enemies, and Ice Patch is awesome for making a killing field with Fire Ammo (Normal Ammo attacks might knock them out of its area, so I just go for the added damage). My absolute FAVORITE trick is to use Shiver and Ice Patch to hold enemies in place and unable to attack while I fire off the LRM Rocket and then demolish whatever is left with DP's AoE attacks. I ended up skipping /Ice's melee attacks entirely, though I sort of wanted to get the ST hold...
A DP/Mental Blaster has Drain Psyche, Mind Probe, World of Confusion, and Psychic Shockwave. These are all awesome powers (though World of Confusion really needs some big-time slotting to be effective, like a Purple IO set) that need you to be close to the enemy. You can also throw in Psychic Scream or a weak enemy fear (the fear power seems to work best in PvP). Personally, I think this is the best combination, since it doesn't require any strategy at all to lay down some significant control and protection while you shoot stuff in the face.
DP/Energy is very straightforward. It'll give you Build up at level 4, Boost Range so you can shoot from farther away, Power Boost to temporarily increase the secondary effects of DP's ammo types, and some sweet ST melee attacks.
Too many alts to list.

DP/EM/COLD
Blast away with the pistols, while you use build up and power boost.
Why power boost? You're using that to pump up your Defense when you need that extra bump of defense!
But you're already softcapped? Well, you'll like it when using it against -Def Mobs.
Cold Epic also gives you Hibernate, take the sleep power. Put a Placate Proc into it...I hear it's broken, but I'm not sure if it's just broken for Will Domination in Psy Blast or all sleep powers, and have no idea if it's just PvP or PvP and PvE, but it can't hurt either way.
There you go.

Assuming you also plan to put some IOs into the mix?

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
so far lvl 11 dp/ice is pretty good but i got kinda bored with the whole use of ice because of my current main a lvl 26 ice/ice blaster lol but its still good for now until i can nail down exactly what i like. there is just so many combos its hard to stick to one idea lol so i make and delete alot of toons
/energy is by far my favorite secondary for blasters. Which might be odd because i usually only pick 3-4 powers from it. Power thrust (or what the tier 1 is called) Build Up and Boost Range. Sometimes i pick a melee hit for the heck of it, but i'm not a big fan of the so called blapping.
I like staying at range, usually with hover on. my AR/EM is one of my favorite chars, hitting boost range + build up + full auto makes me giggle in glee each time. She's a cone wonder with shotgun and flamethrower also.
My DP/EM is also alot of fun, really feels it suits DP with it's curving bullet thing. Also have the tier 1 on energy on auto so if my target comes close, BAP! it flies away soaring in the sky
That it takes the knockback set for the knockback protection is also kinda nice imo. Much cheaper than slotting in a zephyrs.
too bad there isn't a pay to change a secondary without redoing the whole character i'd love to try different ones without repeating all the same stuff which really kills it for me lol
