SS/Energy build advice

after another hecatomb dropping, i have come to the point where i am at a loss as to where and how to slot this set once i get the others. should i go 5 or 6 hecatombs? i am thinking haymaker for hecatombs, but ive seen others slot them in Knock-out blow.

i want advice for a fine-tuned build aimed at heavy damage/decent AoE damage.

-leaping,fighting, Mu, and SS(hasten only) are my current pools.
-i have 5 sets LotGs, 3 sets kinetic combat, and most of the extra procs and goodies (minus the +stealth travel and the kismet Proc)

i want to use more purple sets, armageddon/ragnanok whatever in the future...slotting advice on these would be great as well.i like what my build can do so far, im jus curious about what a good Purple IOed build for SS/ENG/Mu would look like.

-no ceiling budget
-50 IOs, exemplaring not important for this one.
-no PVP IOs

also if there is something better for raw AoE damage than Mu, clue me in

ok.

so, yea.

purple sets. 5 or all 6? im thinking 6 since the toxic is hard to come by. and if i get 4 or 5 sets purple it'll add up. yea?

Got me.

As a rule, I never plan on including Purple sets.

And as for Patrons... I never seem able to mesh Epic pools with certain ATs. It's very rare when I can fit an Epic into a melee toon...

I think my SS/EA brute's Hecatomb set is in Haymaker. Five pieces of it, that is. The sixth (the proc) is in the attack I have on auto-fire to build fury (Boxing).

I like Ghost Widow more than Mu for /Energy Aura. Dark Obliteration is a solid AoE damage power, and if you're not able to hit the soft cap, Darkest Night is an absolute house. Gloom is also well worth it if you can fit it in, both as an attack and as a place to stick a set of Apocalypse. I don't use Apoc on mine, because the 6-slot Thunderstrike was more helpful in getting to the soft cap and I already had more +recharge than I needed. I do have Ragnarok in Dark Oblit, though.

Since money is no object, I'd recommend building for the soft cap in addition to purpling. It can be done. Don't feel like you have to use full sets of LotG to get there, either. A lot of my powers I never went past 3 LotGs in.

SS/EA pushed to its limits is a ton of fun. I'm probably close to 2000 hours on mine.

In answer to your other question about 5 or 6 purples, I almost never go past 5. Especially with /Energy Aura, if you can get to the soft cap (which is very do-able, with no budget restrictions), you won't get hit often enough for the Toxic resistance to matter a whole lot.

I don't think energy aura relies on +recharge. However, if you decide to use purple sets, you can make a perma-hasten build (on top of soft-capping defense), which is probably just for fun and more smashing.

If you want to go for the sixth slot of the purple sets, you probably want to take energy protection to stack the toxic resistance. I think such setup would be a nice touch to patch the toxic weakness. You probably have to make the build yourself and see how you can squeeze in energy protection and the slots for toxic resistance.

As mentioned above, you can consider soul mastery as well. Actually, soul tentacles and dark obliteration are not bad AoE attacks. Given the investment that you want to put in, I don't think soft-capping defense is an issue, so darkest night is more like an insurance when defense debuff kicks in.

sweet, if i can fit it, im gonna try it. seriously considering another epic pool. to fit in the purps, i was thinking going 3 slots for most of the defense with LotG's. maybe slotting boxing to fit in Absolute Amazement (in the last 2 days ive gotten 5 of the set to drop already, lol) ive been farming TV like crazy.:P
