Lifetimes only help a game in the (relatively) short term, as they provide a quick infusion of cash to help support continued development and support.... but after a certain amount of time those users become relatively dead weight. They continue to use your service but are now paying nothing.
If you're having trouble consistently finding 15 to 12 (effective value of a yearly subscription) bucks a month to play with... I don't really see how scraping togeather $250+ is any more reasonable... I'm not saying the things you've mentioned shouldn't take precedence (they should); but 15 dollars a month is actually really good value if you think about what some other forms of entertainment cost compared to their duration.

Has there been any talk of providing lifetime subscriptions to CoX, like a certain other distinguished competitor?
I love this game, but typically only buy a month here or there as I find scratch that I can afford to play (food, shelter, and diapers take precedence, sry).
I know "lifetime subscriptions" are best used for start-up's, rather than established games, but you know, here's to hoping. ;D
