archivist bugged?
I had this issue just the other day. Try changing your camera angle around a bit, it eventually worked for me and I got the badge.
Also, if it's 'been a few months', do make sure you're trying to click the correct banner, but I suppose you probably already did this.
Are you sure you were at the right banner (the solid one on an eastern pillar) and that you were actually close enough to it?
yeah u have to have to mess round with camera angle till the blue hand pops up on the banner its the 1st solid banner on the left inbetween the ones with slits works eventually took me ages to get it tho!
thanks all, will give it another try. have the badge on several characters and its always been a little touchy to find but never this bad. tried for over 5 minutes and never got it to change cursor to the hand. didn't play a lot with camera angle itself though, so will give that a try
guess I will have to see how long it takes a GM to come help on this. don't know what's wrong but cannot get the banner to activate. tried exiting the club and re-entering from a different zone. moved all over with camera zoom and angles, no luck
logged in two other characters and they had no issues at all. could put the curser any where on the banner and it changed to the little hand
any one else had this issue and found a way to get it to work?
Sometimes clickable locations seem to shift for me and the hand appears to the left or right of the object. This happens mostly with merit vendors, but you could see if this is the problem with the banner.

I suprisingly ran into this issue today, and I remembered seeing this thread. Camera angle didn't seem to have any effect on it at all, but I did eventually get it to work.
Apparently the Clickable distance is very small. I practically had to stand right against the pillar to get the hand cursor to appear.
I tested it again several times after, and with the same results. I had to stand extremely close to the banner to click it. I don't remember having to be that close before, but I could be wrong. Camera angle or position on the banner didn't seem to matter at all as long as I was close enough to it. The other objects in the series don't seem to have such a short distance on them though.

For example, go to WW's and compare the way the Merit Vendor works to the way the WW Reps work...
WW Employee is Targeted when clicked on. They do not have a Hand cursor at all. They simply bring up the interface if you are close enough. While targeted, if you have the Actions window open, clicking Chat will open/close the WW interface as well.
Merit Vendor can be Targeted when clicked with the normal cursor and gives no merit store window. In some places it gives you a hand which will bring up the interface and not even target the contact. While targeted, opening the Actions window and clicking "Chat" does NOTHING.
It almost seems that the Merit Vendors are somewhat surrounded by an independent transparent object that acts as the store interface, while the WW Reps and other contacts are the clickable object themselves. I think I /bugged it a while ago, but no real response other than the usual "forwarding it to the team".
Another strange random thing:
"/targetname Wentworth" will target the WW Rep
"/targetname Merit" will NOT target the Merit Vendor
finally got it to work and it was the strangest thing. I spent at least another 5 minutes in front of the bloody banner zooming in, zooming out, changing camera angle up and down, moving closer, moving farther away, etc, etc, etc. nothing, never got even a flash of the cursor changing from the pointer to the hand.
don't even know why I did it, probably just out of frustration, I hit the space bar a few times making my character jump up and down and the cursor changed couldn't believe it, so I tried it again and the cursor would change for just a split second. took several tries to time it so that the pop up message came up but finally got it and the badge.
even after I got the badge, I could never get the cursor to change while standing still. could still get it to change by jumping up and down in front of it.
thinking about it just a bit, this is one of the few characters I made using the "huge" body style. wonder if that has anything to do with the issue. may check to see if I have any other characters that have or close to having access to the Midnight Club and see if they have the same problem with the banner
thanks all for the helpful suggestions and we can now add jumping up and down to the list of work arounds
has anyone else had a problem completing the midnight archivist badge? I cannot get the final location, the banner, to work. I have the badge on several other characters and have never had this issue but it has been a few months since I took a new character into the club. did something change?
