How do U delete threads LOL

Just looking for an AGP card that isn't expensive that will run ultra mode without any problems. Any ideas? I have a nvidia quadro fx 3000 and I know it won't do ultra mode.

All signs point to "AGP is way too old to run Ultra Mode 'without any problems'"... lol.

I answered the "is there a worthwhile AGP upgrade" question for myself a couple of months ago.

The best available AGP video card at the moment is the HIS Radeon HD 4670, which benchmarks out at around 80-85% of the GeForce 9800 GT that is the nominal entry level UM card. In other words, it'll probably handle most of the UM features at minimal settings.

Whether that's worth $125 (at NewEgg or TigerDirect) or not depends upon what the alternatives are. For me the answer was "not worth it"; as it's my 2nd machine, has a 7600 GT in it and it will be replaced entirely some time this year. If the machine still had its original FX 5200 in it, then I'd be upgrading even for just the few months.

[Edit:] The Quadro FX 3000 benchmarks out at about 25% of the GeForce 9800 GT.

I wouldn't. The 3200 isn't a particularly powerful GPU, and I'd avoid minitowers like the plague. They severely limit your upgrade options.

Between the crappy integrated graphics and the 300W power supply, that would probably make a poor gaming rig. If you don't want to build something yourself, try something like this:

or this:

And if you've got a deeper pocketbook, this:

Hope this helps!

As far as I see you can upgrade the vid card with the PCI express slot, but again I don't know much of this. I'm not looking for a great gaming puter just something that will last me a few years and can play ultra mode. I do a lot more than just games so I need a multifunctional computer that can edit videos and do power point presentations so I was looking at this puter. Again I don't know much about puters so I yield to the experts

You need to be careful about the power supply when considering upgrading the video card. That machine is somewhat limited in that regard, having a 300W power supply. What I've been looking at for my new machine are PSU with at least 370W on the 12V rail alone.

This was the cheapest Gateway machine that I could find that provides a turn-key Ultra-Mode option: DX4831-07

That iBUYPOWER Phenom II X4 based machine linked upthread is a better deal.

Problem is, you're gonna need at least a pretty good gaming computer to play Ultra Mode for the next few years. And as Kosmos mentioned above, you do need a decent power supply (typically at least 500W) to upgrade to a better graphics card. Here's one of the cheapest computers I could find that will satisfy your requirements:

'Bout $100 more than the one you were looking at, which is what you'd spend on a graphics card anywho. It has a 9800GT card, which is what Posi recommended for minimum Ultra Mode specs (compared to my previous posts, which would land you in the middle of Ultra Mode territory). It also has a 700W PSU with 2x6-pin PCI connectors, so you could upgrade the graphics card to something beefier down the line if you wanted.
