Help needed to soft cap first SD scrapper.
Here's how I did it with my BS/SD.
First, all single target attacks including Parry got a full set of Mako's Bite to build Ranged defense (excepting Boxing... it's an unused prereq)
Second, all AOE attacks got 5 Scirocco's Dervish to build AOE defense.
That slotting, plus BotZ two slotted twice, put me at 47% Melee (one parry), 45.8% Ranged and 44.6% AOE. This does include the bonus from CJ; loosing it puts me at 45.2% Melee, 43.9% Range & 42.7% AOE. By the way, those are the numbers with the nerfed BotZ, and I only slotted the travel and travel/end IO's skipping the KB protection.
I slotted all my defenses with 4 Gift of the Ancients for the endurance bonuses, and Deflection also got a pair of common resist IO's. True Grit got the Steadfast unique, a pair of common resist and three Miracle including the unique. Yes, it could be improved on but it's worked out for me.
I also have Grant Cover for the debuff resistance and as another GotA mule and One with the Shield for when things turn pear shaped.

Actually, your build is soft-capped, just that you've to six-slot many powers to acquire the bonus. It's ok, but it seems like you can't slot powers in the way that you want in order to get the bonus.
I changed the slotting of your build. The power choice is kept, but I swap in hover and fly. It would be great to have grant cover for the defense debuff resistance and one with the shield. But the build is tight, so you've to give up something if you want to grab those powers. I think you probably want to take more time to finalize your build.
My build has soft-capped melee defense without parry (very close to the cap for ranged and aoe after the BotZ adjustment). It's up to you whether you want to rely on parry or not. I think it's more fun to play without always worrying about parrying.

Hi Twilgith thanks for the build, you are right it is a tight build. I am thinking about how to crame grant cover into the build. I think it would be a big help as myself and Mrs Wallace play two BS/SD scrapper as a duo (which has been a blast so far 29 lvs and counting). Do you think the concept can work without the extra stam from Pysical Perfection, as I was thinking about droping it for grant cover. Any help with power selection would be a big help as very new to sheilds. Again thank for all the help.
I believe endurance can be an issue when you start to add more toggles as you level up. You probably can have more fun with ample amount of endurance. If you don't mind having a minimal attack chain, you can drop slice. Parry is a very fast recharging power which you can use as a filler, and I think you have sufficient AoE attacks.
You can take a look at the build below and see if it's satistory. I don't really want to use HO, but slots are tight. You can actually slot active defense with HO, which can raise the defense debuff resistance of the power. Hopefully, the build won't break your wallet.

Thanks for all the build help so far, the changes to BotZ are a pain but sure I can work around it. I was thinking is there anway I could pick up Manouvers from the leadership pool instead of taking the fighting pool and still hit the Def Cap? This would free 2 powers so I could take Grant Cover and still fit in Slice (which I just love). Does any one have a build not using the fighting pool to softcap?

you're not choosing the fighting pool for Weave, you're choosing it for Tough (& Weave),
with that said, and the coming BotZ changes, is Fly droppable?
Can live with out fly but no a travel power, ninja run on its own is just not enough lol. I see what you mean, but have seen a few tank builds just using Leadership pool but maybe that only works for tanks. Still loving this toon but scraching my head on how to soft cap with the BotZ changes and keeping stam and recharge up and to squess in Grant Cover. Back to the drawing board for me is seems.

Hi all i am currently working on my first SD scrapper. Going for a BS/SD and loving it. However, I am struggling to softcap him in mids (see build below). Can anyone tell me were I am going wrong also is it posabile to hit the softcap and have hover and fly instead of CJ and SJ? Would be better for the concept if he could fly. Any help would be greatly appreciated even if it just a point to a build link.
