Yet Another LockUp Problem

The game is locking the entire system up on me, particularly on large teams in instanced missions. It forces a full reboot (I have to pull the good ole power cord). Bizarrely, I'm been able to attend hami raids and not have trouble, it seems to happen at random times, but once it happens, it's cascading -- re-powering the machine and logging back in seems to ensure another lockup soon after. This would seem to tell me that I'm having an overheating issue, but Speedfan says the GPU is only running at 62 degrees. I can reboot the machine and use it for other things with no trouble, oddly.

"Can play" is not a binary. It's a float.
There are some pretty low values of "can play" out there.

Have you tried running in Safemode? There is a checkbox on the updater screen for safemode.

You might want to rollback your video drivers and see if that works. Use a driver cleaner first, then try these drivers from Nvidia.

(BTW, you might want to update your OS to SP3.)

I've been having this exact problem recently (last week or so) on a machine that's been running CoH fine for two years. Haven't run all these diagnostics yet, but I suspected my video cards was going bad...now I'm starting to wonder.

Have they 'snuck in' some of these graphics upgrades and my machine can't handle it anymore?

That definitely sounds like an overheating problem. If your GPU isn't overheating your CPU might be so I'd check that first. If it is overheating try replacing the thermal paste, I was having a similar problem a few days ago and that fixed it for me.

might want to try updating windows xp to service pack 3. and update your sound drivers if you can.

I'm having similar problems as Huron. I have been watching the memory usage by CoH. Enter/exit of some missions/zone show a big memory leak, on the order of 100MB. I've been able to catch the total memory is use at over 1.9GB at the time of a lock up.
The RealTek HD audio drivers in yellow, I saw that, went to the RealTek site, they are new as they get.
