Now I run WoW at almost Max settings and with 25 people in a raid I get around 30 FPS with a lot of spells going on and in 1920x1080 resolution. 20 at the very least.
If Im idle its anywhere between 80-110 fps in just the major cities itself and not in raids(which are instanced).

Now Im in the starting area in CoX and I get 30 fps.
Now I know 30 fps is decent, but thats in 800x600 mode which is absolutely ugly.
Any ideas?
So far I've tried fiddling with shadows, and all effects turned down low and they did nothing but increase my fps by 5.
For an old game like this I should be hitting at least 60 constantly in 1024x768 moreso in 800x600.
Please help.

P.S: I would also like to add that all my drivers are up to date, no other programs running in the background except for antivirus(AVG) and shutting it down doesn't have any help on fps at all.
Internet connection is fine as well( I play WoW with the same internet connection)

post a CoH helper report and a Hijack this report. that will tell us alot more then what you posted. we can then help you from there.

To expand further, and give links, post a log from running CoH Helper as it will give information about your system and the CoH installation and settings.

Then, post a log from running HijackThis. This will show what else is going on on your computer while you are playing CoH.

This may sound silly, but when you say your drivers are up to date, do you mean that you downloaded the drivers from nVidia and installed them or that Windows Update showed new drivers available and you installed those? There is a huge difference.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

COH has considerably higher hardware requirements than WoW but you've enough machine that you should have better performance than that.

In the game options menu select "advanced" in the graphics options. A few of the more notable performance hogs are in this area.

Bloom and Water Effects are both major offenders, try turning them off. You can also turn down max particles. Anti Aliasing is another offender... tone it down or try deactivating it completely.

You can turn down World Detail and Character Detail some to reduce the workload, and maximum particles is another huge performance drain.

This may be technically an "old game", but the graphics have consistently been upgraded throughout it's lifespan. I'm running a quad core Intel CPU similar to yours, 4 GB RAM and an Nvidia 275GTX video card and I get around 65 FPS @ 1680x1050 with the detail settings at a moderately high level. In combat that can drop into the 40's with a lot of effects going off. I was previously running an 8800GTX in the same box (before the damn thing ate itself) with similar FPS, but the graphics options were set considerably lower. Still, you should be able to get 40fps or better with your system @ 1680x1050... you may have to turn down a few things though.

Unfortunately you're not going to get 60fps out of that video card running 1920x1080, the 8500GT just doesn't have enough juice. COH, and even more so COV are simply much more graphically intense than WOW.

COH has just been murdered by NCSoft. http://www.change.org/petitions/ncso...city-of-heroes
