*yawn* I Need Tea...
I have no pants!
^^ This does not count as character reference. I need something to work with.

Or pick someone else since you drew Sapphic Neko once for me already :3

First is first! And I can't resist your characters, Sapphy >=D
Damn it. I thought this thread was going to be about tea, not free drawings!
Well, now its about catgirls!
I felt like doing charcoal.
Now I want tea! *goes to make tea*
Edit: *comes back with tea* Nice picture btw!
sips brew ...
pic is awesome hun
Glad you like her! I haven't busted out the charcoal for a while, and figured that it would be something different for your collection. Kinda fun doing something stylized in a media like charcoal... Send me a PM if you'd like me to email a little bigger version of the file.
Sneaky Free Artz lol.
Very nice stylized take on Neko and it looks good in charcoal too.
That's a medium I haven't used in ages (right up there with silverpoint and craypa).
I really enjoy charcoal. It allows for fast changes but also can be really refined...
That's charcoal!
Yeah it looks to be a charcoal design of a Michelangelo bust.
Very cool... who is the artist?
The artist is Yumiko Dorsey, but that is not a Michelangelo bust. Michelangelo's Moses had horns. The bust is 19th century neo-classic.

I just meant it looks to be a his (Michelangelo's) style of sculpture being depicted.

There were of course other sculptors with similar styles but he is the first that popped to mind when I saw that drawing.
Sidenote: the reason that pic (and most others you see of the Moses) is lit from the side is that the interior of the church is kept dimly lit on purpose
so the only way to get a good shot of it is the the little "light vending machine" the church has set up. It's a slot that you drop coins into and it turns on a
flood lamp for about 8 seconds so you can shoot a pic and then turns off again until you put more money in... I would make a joke about the over the top greed
of the church here but it would be redundant.

I didn't really get a Michelangelo feel from it (but this could also be because I've studied a lot of his work, so just didn't recognize it as one of them), but the way you worded your comment made it sound like you thought it was a bust from a Michelangelo (I also am more than aware that his Moses was full figure, but that doesn't stop busts of it and others like the David from existing). Don't get me wrong... I really enjoy neoclassic sculpture and other classical revivals... but they do lack the monumentality and power. They have all the lovely flowing lines but not as much "depth".
Its just one of those unknown artist busts that's often used for cast drawing.... and garden statuary apparently. But its a nice choice for cast drawings because of all the details with the hair and beard. Same reason why the Plato bust and another head of Zeus are popular subjects. And David is chopped right up to do studies... down to pieces of his face.
<drinks more tea>
I'm not sure who this Michael feller is that y'all are talking about, but if you're gonna use charcoal for something other than grilling up some pork steaks, that's pretty nice!

You know, I was kinda smiling when the Chinese women's hockey team scored a goal against the US. It was late, and the US was up 11-0, so in lieu of a mercy rule I guess I rooted a bit on the inside for the underdogs.
<swaps to Diet Coke>
next!
Edit: They got he goal back...12-1. oh well, go USA! Also, still love the look of that piece, so this isn't a total threadjack.

Bwahahaha, no prob. I'm a notorious threadjacker, so I don't mind if my threads meander.
Did you mean that you have or have not studied a lot of his work?
Also, out of curiosity, what made you think of the Moses in particular when I said Michelangelo? Horns and the Moses being a full statue aside, the two don't look much alike.
Yeah I agree the David is done to death he crops up everywhere you go in Italy it seems...
I forget what small town we were in but my two travel companions decided they shall call this one Mini D (they had just seen Austin Powers).
