Chain Induction + Procs

Hello!

Last time I was around, months ago, CI had a bug with procs. I heard that a proc triggering would end the chain. Is this still true?

Even if it is still true, I'm trying to find ideal attacks on my Elec/SR to place the Performance Shifter procs to help eliminate any end shortages I might have. I like a very healthy blue bar.

Is CI a smart place to put this, or any, proc?

Thanks!

The proc bug was fixed when issue 16 went live. It should now use the correct chances to jump from the power and not the proc slotted in it.

As for using Performance Shifter's proc in it, that's a judgement call. Personally, I'd rather slot in a set that would give me some positional defense, like ToD or Mako's, which require all six pieces. If you're already soft-capped, I suppose you could slot in the +END proc, but you'd have to give up some damage and likely something else, like End Redux for instance. I've found Elec Melee is comparatively easy on END compared to SS or SM, especially if you have the Numina's and Miracle procs slotted. I'd go ahead and slot the +END proc in 4-slotted Stamina to give you the additional 2.5% recovery boost from 4-slotted Performance Shifter, but if you're looking to slot that proc in attacks, you could probably slot more End Redux in the same power and get more benefit in the long run.

I have 4 dam/rech, hecatomb proc and ToD proc.

focused accuracy and a couple Lotg 4s take care of acc, being WP takes care of end.

A perf shifter proc could be pretty good tho, but I cant see elec ever having those kinds of end problems...

Thanks guys.

It's not that ELM in and of itself will give me end trouble, it's just that I'm building for very high recharge+hasten, and I would like the collective spam to be non-stop. My /SR and Fighting toggles aren't maxed for end reduction either.

I have a few of the procs sitting around on junk characters, so I'll probably slap one in Charged Brawl and in Chain Induction.

Thanks again!

Wow, that stinks if it's true.

So what attacks does this proc atually return end to you in? Does it have to be an attack that has a chance to return end to you anyways, like Charged Brawl and Havoc Punch?

Or does it not work properly at all?

Somebody who has tried slotting this proc in an attack please report.

Procs work by triggering on the target (excluding global uniques like LOTG 7.5, Numina, etc). The problem is that the target isn't you when you use chain induction, or any other end-drain attack, because the end-drain is being done on the enemy. There is a small chance of it affecting you, which I have not tested to see if under this circumstance the proc has a chance at triggering on you. However, given that those attacks have a 10% chance of returning endurance, and a 10% chance of perf firing, it isn't going to happen reliably enough to even be worth it. I haven't wasted a respec testing this, but I've gone with the general knowledge base in the FAQ on procs in the Market/Inventions forum. I'll go with what has been already tested there.

The proc is usually slotted in an always on power like Stamina, or in an endurance modifying buff like Accelerate Metabolism or Speed Boost. Slotting it in a damage attack is not where you want to go.

Similarly, slotting it in Accelerate Metabolism would be pretty wasteful, as even allowing for a high-recharge build with perma-AM, the proc would only make a check once every ~2 minutes. You mostly want Perf. Shifter procs to go in passives (Stamina, Quick Recovery, and/or Physical Perfection) where they activate every 10 seconds; Speed Boost would be alright, but in an attack, the target of the proc is the target of the attack, which is the guy you're trying to beat up.

Rule number six of an empathy defender is NEVER underestimate a blaster's ability to die. I don't care if he has CM, Fort, both RAs, bubbles (both FF and Sonic), and is fighting next to a Storm defender with hurricane on. If there is a way to die in that situation, the blaster will find it.

True. I didn't mean to suggest that AM would be a good choice. Just that it would work properly.
