My attempt at an Elec/Shield Scrapper

I was bored tonight and decided to play with Mids'. I have been wanting to play an Elec/Shield for quite sometime but always seem to have another project going on in-game. Well I have finally decided to take on the endeavor. I've got a great ss/fire brute Villain side that is my pride and joy, so I have decided to take this toon Hero side and scrap it up. I'm not the greatest numbers cruncher, but feel like the scrapper variant will be, end game, more powerful. Now this build will be way off in the future for me as my new scrapper just dinged 10 this afternoon. My main concern now (obviously) is cost. Luckily I am in absolutely no hurry to complete the toon. Heck, it took me better part of two years to get my ss/fire brute where I wanted him. So I ask the Scrapper Elders, "How does my creation stack-up with your builds?" Any glaring problems I may have over looked? I greatly appreciate your time and assistance!

The first thing that springs to mind is that without 3 allies in range of PF you have 38% defense which is 7% below the soft cap. Being there is more important to some than others but that really makes a difference when trying see what can be accomplished mid scrapper lock.

Good catch. Well I'll be back on Mids' with a fix for that. Thought I had that set to zero.
That's what I get for designing builds in Mids' when I should be sleeping. I'll hopefully have a new build posted later tonight.

This is it. I couldn't figure out how you got such impressive numbers without going for so many of the defensive bonuses at 6 slots in so many powers. I look forward to seeing your redone build.

Ok.... I am rushing around before work but had a breather, so I played around with the build again. Lost perma hasten and an attack, but gained the needed defense. Will losing Jacobs Ladder gimp me or will I be okay with my blaze abilities I pick-up at the end? I don't plan on running lower level content with him, mostly farming to be honest. (Some solo and some duo'ed with my brother)

Looks solid to me but I would switch some things around. I would pull a slot out of PF and put it in health with another miracle for added recovery. I would swap the LOTG defense in PF for a kismet +acc. I would slot five armageddons and 1 force feedback +rech in thunderstrike, and slot the 6 oblits that are in thunderstrike in lightning rod. I notice on my shield/elec that the force feedback proc in thunderstrike fires all the time and you cant slot the proc in lightning rod.

That's a much better build.

A couple of things:
1. Switch the Doctored Wounds Heal/Rech in health to a straight Miracle Heal for the 2.5% recovery bonus.
2. I'd move a slot from combat jumping to tough and slot in a Steadfast Res/End. That will allow you to actually run Tough and get some good resistance instead of just having it as a mule. You'll still be at the soft cap.

I'd like to have it because when farming, because it's best to sit in the middle of the group to saturate AAO before unleashing AoEs. But it depends on what you farm and how much inspirations you want to leverage. If you don't mind occasionally chewing on a green or purple (and since inspirations drop like rain anyhow) then sure, you don't need to be soft capped. But you already know this.

EDIT: Didn't see the slots in Phalanx Fighting. I'd pull all but the default slot since you can't enhance the self defense portion of it anyways. I'd move a slot to tough, and slot in either another Res/End or a straight Resistance IO (in addition to what I said earlier) and then move the second slot to either health or true grit. In true grit, I'd slot a Regen Tissue proc.

Without making any actual build changes and just commenting on your slotting I'd say: the Doctor'd Wounds slot in Health can be replace with a regular Heal IO, you don't need 3 Membrane's in Active Defense if you're farming. If you want to softcap ranged def I'd suggest dropping the dmg proc in LR and tossing the full set of Thunder Strikes in Fire Blast. But. There are so many different ways to softcap yourself that you've got to find the right one that fits your playstyle.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts and suggestions! A few of the problems with the second build were simply me rushing around like a madman before work. The DW heal/rech in Health was actually supposed to be the third unique. I think I've proofed the build a little more carefully this time and taken into account your ideas.

Now I believe, and pardon me if I am mistaken, that Mids' does not accurately display ranged defense on /shield due to a technical issue with PF in the program. I.E. ranged doesn't receive the base 3.75 defense like melee and aoe get at zero allies, so it appears lower than it actually is. This is how I am basing this build as softcapped. Perhaps someone could verify that....
