A New Way to Play!

So while creating new characters is always fun for me, playing through the levels and leveling up has become quite monotonous. So while on my newest toy (Ice/Mental Blaster) I realized something. You still can earn XP while exemped, and you have access to more powers while zemped. This realization sparked an idea that has added alot more fun to the game for me.

Once I leveled to 25 (which is fairly easy) I started using Ouroborus solely. This gave me the power to pick exactly what Arch I wanted to play and I don't have to go through the "stupid" missions to get to the actual arch. You can use the O-portal to trasnport directly to the contact instead of slogging across multiple zones if you can't call, and you earn a ton of merits.

So I just wanted to share this idea with others so that if they are looking for a way to break routine don't forget about Ouroborus, this is where the xp while zemped has really shined for me, and hopefully it will work for others as well

Yep, this was a new feature added in Issue 16. It's been fantastic for teaming with people who are lower level than my character when I still want to get experience.

In addition to that, you may not have noticed, but you get to keep all your powers up to five levels over your current exemplared level.

Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges

I had known that and been enjoying that with friends and TFs (Posi and Synapse are much less hair pulling now) but I hadn't ever given any thought to using it to actually level up through Ouro. It's alot of fun to just plow through the level 20-24 Archs with all of the powers you have up to 29 and still earn the xp.

Also the Oroboros flashback arcs can be run task force style. Just need to get a group of players together who are willing to run through the whole arc story. We did this on Proctecor with the Freak-Olympics arc, we were all dressed as Saturday morning cartoon characters. The game is so much fun seeing Papa Smurf pound on a Freak Tank.

Actually, since one of my characters has the backstory of being an Ouroboros Mender, I ran her through just enough arcs to get her access to Entrusted with the Secret (courtesy of Doc Delilah's arc). The bulk of her lvl 25+ activity will then be via Flashback. (Since I FULLY intend to get all of the Ouro badges on her, in case they ever unlock/fix the Chronomaster Accolade.)

Being able to get exp while exemping was a big game changer for me. I love, love, love the developers for SSK!

More opportunities to play with friends while advancing my characters is always a good thing.

Personally, while I enjoy Ouro for what it offers to the game, I'd never consider levelling up on it. To me, it just feels soulless to pick only the specific missions that show up in there, but skip everything else. It's a novel idea, to be sure, and I'm sure it'll be to many people's tastes, but I prefer to do it the old way.

Hmmm, might have to give this a try. I've been looking into alternate levelling routes lately, since I've done all the sub-40 villain stuff a zillion times and I can't bring myself to look at the sub-40 hero normal zone contacts (I can only do Faultline->Striga->Croatoa->RWZ so many times). I've got a brute I'm trying to level solely on AE story arcs.

Having Vengeance and Fallout slotted for recharge means never having to say you're sorry.

This is exactly what I fell into. You have to make an effort to unlock certain 20-40 contacts it seems and this avoided the luck of who you were offered. Ive never naturally been offered the freaklympics arc, however leveling this way I was able to get it as soon as I hit 29 (when the 25-29 arcs open up) and I don't have to worry about outleveling it or not getting xp while I play it. Plus you get the powers you earn while running it, its such a win win.

This is also why I posted this, so that others like me, could experience what i am right now, total rejuvination of the game. Plus you can "challenge" urself and play the earlier arcs you missed w/out the powers you're used too and see how you do. Although having bitter ice blast for the hollows arcs was pretty BA.

I have been using the pillar of ice and fire in my base to do just that. I have found it a lovely way to experience just the story arcs on my latest brute. So far I have completed everything from the first two brackets of the mission list and am really enjoying it!
