Shield/Elec advice

Been thinking of re-rolling a character from Invul/EM to something else. Elec melee keeps catching my eye, and combining that with Shield looks like a recipe for awesome. Anyone got any advice on them or other combos?

I also rustled up a quick build...any glaring holes with it?

Take my comments for what they are worth...not much...

-I'm not a fan of Tough on Shield Tankers. In fact, If you have 2 extra powers to spend I'd be in greater favor of getting and slotting Aid Self...you get hit few enough times that using it mid-combat isn't much of an issue.

-Wouldn't mind seeing an extra green or two added to True Grit to increase the HP. As-is you're only getting the base bump from the power.

-If you can rearrange some things and get Pyre for the APP...Fireball is another great addition to your AoE capabilities. Unless it doesn't work with your concept.

-If you can afford it, I'd go for Obliteration in both Shield Charge and Lightning Rod.

On the other hand, taking Tough and then Weave makes it pretty trivial to soft-cap, and the current build doesn't quite make it for melee, even with 6-slotting the shield toggles.

Personally, I'd drop CP and pick up Weave, and find a way to 6-slot Gaussian's in Build Up. With Weave, the SP +Def, and the Gaussian's bonus you'll be within just a few percentage points of soft-capping to all three positions. The biggest benefit of that approach is that you won't have to six-slot so many attacks for the defense bonuses, and you can pull two slots each out of Deflection, BA and Tough so you can do things like fully slot True Grit for the HP bonus.

This is what mine is. I use him for farming. So I built for more global recharge, and he is soft capped in Melee and Ranged even without Phalanx Fighting on. So if you run solo, you'll still be at soft cap.

EDIT: If your positionals are soft capped, your typed defense doesn't matter and vice versa.

I've got my SD/ELM planned a little differently then the other two examples. Not saying it's better, but it's a different direction. If nothing else this will give you another concept to give you ideas for yours.

Like Heraclea's, it's soft capped to all positions, but doesn't have the same amount of recharge as I don't have hasten. Hope it helps.
