Mass Effect 2
Most Bioware products are released for the PC as well. So I have the game on my PC. Can't say I'm a fan of shooters on consoles they just don't feel right to me. I think when i transfered my rich guy over the money carried with him.

Of course... there's so many ways to mod a PC game, it probably doesn't matter what you start with.... us console gamers have to EARN our stuff....
finally beat the second one late last week. overall great play thru and i agree i hated mining and scanning.. however i did manage to get no one left behind on my first attempt! woot!
I finished the game twice up to this point and got all the achievements last weekend. I simply loved the game. I completed the first with my adept from ME1. I avoided all spoilers until I completed it at least once and came out with two team deaths at the end of the game. Second run through with a soldier also from ME1 on the insanity difficulty. Everything has armor or shields. Armored husks swarming you is not much fun without a lot of room to move. About the only "complaint" (and I use the word weakly) is the planitary scanning. It was a lot of fun at first, but got old pretty quickly. Good game. Heck of a lot of fun. Great story. I plan on backing up to ME1 to make a renegade character to bring over to #2. But after that just waiting for DLC and to pre order a copy of #3.
So, has anyone else tried the new armor/shotgun upgrades from the cerberus network? Not sure if mine took, do I have to get them from one of the shops? Or is there a mish that pops up? Admittedly, I haven't had time to sit down w/ it, yet, but for the few min I did, I couldn't find it in my inventory. Thoughts?
I did not get the latest ones, but the version that I got had Two extra armors and extra weapons. For the Armors, they were there from the first time that I was able to change clothes (the "closet" thingy before you get introduced to the Illusive Man). For the weapons, I had to find them. I have the Collector edition, so I didn't get them until my first encounter with the Collectors on the first run. The second run, they were still there.

Some of the revamps to the game have gotten me baffled. OK, granted bioware games have always been more about the story rather than the gameplay (they all felt klunky and last decade tech to me) but this time around, they really dumbed things down to picking dialogue lines and running through a poor shoot em up between dialogue options.
I know a lot of people like this new game style, but it is SO not for me. You basiclaly get to move your mouse around a planet and click your mouse to collect resources... thanks for getting rid of the mako, but you didnt have to get rid of like 90% of the original game as well. =(
The scanning plantes thing really made me think of StarControl2. The original mass effect already had me thinking about the precursors and ur-quan with their story. Starcon2's resource collecting was so much better though. I wish they'd make games like THAT nowadays.
Dialog wise ME2, plays very similarly to 1, with the added bonus of the quick action paragon and renegade moments. I didn't feel dumbed down to be. I believe they greatly improved the combat. Scanning planets was meh, didn't mind to much since it lead to other side quests. I mean really, whats dumber, standing in an elevator for new quests or actually looking for it? I really like both games but i lean more towards 2 right now.
Nexus has a good point. I put ME1 back in after my first playthrough on ME2, and the combat system was much clumsier in the first. Tapping 'A' to get behind cover is waaaay better than trying to run against a wall to do the same. The heat clips were annoying at first, but all it made me do was ration my ammo a little better, instead of spraying areas w/ suppressive fire while I waited for my teammates to find cover. Usually resulting in their deaths. After a while, I didn't even care if my teammates survived or not, as I was doing all the killing anyway. In ME2, the team actually puts forth an effort not to get killed and help out, not to mention the stackable biotic attacks that detonate.
As for the planet scanning, it was neat at first, but it got old real fast. The only thing that livened it up was the discoverable landing sites.
Don't get me wrong, Gemini, if it's not your cup o' tea, it's not your cup o' tea. I'm not trying to convince you of anything. That's what I love about the States: you're free to make up your own mind.
So, ya, transferring in a max'd out paragon or renegade will get you a little further down the road.
However, I had paragon completely pegged out and was still earning tons of paragon points, so getting one or the other maxed shouldn't be difficult if you put any effort at all into earning paragon or renegade points in ME2.
