SS/Fire - Brute Liberate TV Farm Build

Black_Mute

This is a build I came up with for farming 0/8/Bosses Liberate TV with Nemisis exclusively. Any reason to change anything? I was thinking of a S/L def build, but then I would think the stacked Vengance would negate that.

Yeah, I'd go +HP/Rech, but most farmers in RL don't build a mansion in order to run a farm.

I understand why you went with some of those PvP IO's, but their cost and unavailability on the market makes me wonder what real benefit they offer.

Obliteration in blazing aura is going to really hurt your end.

Just quickly running over the build I'd have to say just a couple of things.

The pvp sets are definitely not need if you are just going to use him for a lib farmer, not to meantion those IOs are so ridiculously priced you'd have to farm for.....well, a damn long time to get the investment back.

The slotting you really should be considering is +HP, +End, +recovery, and recharge.

You'll be able to easily survive the typed damage from the Nemesis due to the fact that your resists will be structured most effectively against their damage types. With the back up from probably the most powerful self heal in the game you shouldn't have problems.

Defense is going to be rather pointless for the purpose of farming. It may aid you in the alphas, but you will easily survive them on resists and healing alone. After the first Colonel goes down you'll find vengeance easily closes the gap that the defense was providing. When it becomes stack defense is pretty pointless.

I'd recommend taking another look at your build in general and reconsider the set bonuses you're going for, because other than the pvp bonuses you're really gaining nothing significant that'll aid you in farm that you couldn't get from immensely cheaper sets.

Thirding what others have said about the pvp sets. If you've got the money and you feel its worth it to you, by all means go for it. But the benefits really are minimal over the significantly cheaper alternatives.

I would try to fit Ball Lightning into your build, a second AoE is very handy, especially with the KD proc from Ragnaroks. Putting Ragnaroks in an AoE immobilise is a total waste. I did take the AoE Immob and I did put purples in it for the set bonuses, but I used the immobilise set.

I would move the Numi +/+ to Health instead of Healing Flames. While it is true that you'll almost always be using HF at least once every 120 seconds, this will not always be the case and you want to max out the heal/end/rech on HF.

Tonality is right, Oblits in Blazing Aura is going to be hell on your end bar. Especially since you've also got them in Consume. Not a problem if you only use Consume on full spawns, but if you're using it on 1 or 2 targets it's not going to help much.

In terms of personal preference, I'd move the Hecatombs to Haymaker. It recharges faster so I find I get more use out of the proc there.

I would also suggest you consider changing PPPs to Soul Mastery. While Soul Tents sucks for leveraging Burn, if you've got decent recharge and a PPP ranged AoE (like Ball Lightning or Dark Obliteration) you shouldn't really need it. I found Soul Mastery much better for my brute for farming for 2 reasons. Firstly, the DoT nature of Gloom means its incredibly end-efficient and helps to ensure Fakes don't bubble. Secondly, while Ball Lightning being DoT means its also technically end-efficient, Footstomp does so much damage that a lot of the time its wasted. Even if it does less damage, the up-front nature of Dark Obliteration means I get much more damage out of it.

Edit: also important to note that Elec Fences has -kb, whereas Soul Tents does not. So you can hit Soul Tents running into a spawn if you want to use Burn but still get the mitigation (especially to stop Fakes bubbling) from KD/KU.

Hope that helps

I have a ton of infamy redside that I've been waiting to place in a farm/PL toon redside, so when I made the original build I wasn't thinking much about cost. I took your advice and went with Titanium Coating for my shields instead of Gladiator's Armor. I loved the built in kb protection and 2.25 +hp, but I agree now in relooking at the build it would be better to just get the TC. I slotted three kb protection IOs so I won't get bounced around by the Fakes to make up for the loss of the set bonus from GA. I also slotted two sets of Eradication to give me back the 2.25 +HP and even get 2.6 +end to my end bar. Put an End. IO in Blazing Aura to help with the my end. use.

Thanks for giving me some advice on how building for +def would work. I have read where people have built their SS/Fire Brutes for 30% S/L +def, but I didn't think they would have done that for this map. I have previously farmed this map on a Fire/Fire Brute and an Elec/Elec Brute, but those builds didn't seem as effecient for this map as I think a SS/Fire Brute could be.

I here you all about the PvP IO sets, but I really like the Panacea +rech and +HP; as well as, the proc effect so it's why I kept it in my revised build. I was looking in Mids. about your advice for moving the Numina's +/+, but if I replaced it with a rech it was only taking like a second off the recharge. I got rid of Haymaker because I wanted to fit in Ball of Lightning and didn't know what else to take out. I figure I'll be okay with single target damage with KO Blow and Mu Lightning especially with Rage and I'll probably have at least 80% Fury.

As for the patron, I thought about what you said about Ghost Widow, but I just didn't want to go with it. My attack plan will be to target the Fakes in a mob and as I jump into the mob I'll throw Ball of Lighting to get some rage up and maybe have some come into melee, then I'll hit Foot Stomp to knock them down, then throw out Electric Fences to immobilize and hit burn. I'd then finish up the stragglers and Fakes with another FS and with KO Blow and Mu Lighting.

Here's my revised build. Would I be okay against the Fakes with just 8 pts. of KB protection?

I'm not sure if 8pts of -KB will do the trick. If memory serves, I've got 12. Its enough for almost anything, I only get KBed if a Fake hits me at the exact same time as a Lt or something if they're +3s.

I've also noticed you've got Hasten 6 slotted. I would give Hasten 3 slots, 4 at the most. You'll get much, much more bang for your buck if you put those slots elsewhere. Like Punch, for instance. KO Blow and Mu Lightning are decent ST, but its not going to be enough to drop bosses fast.

I would really recommend you fit Haymaker in though. If you put a Steadfast or 2 in any of your shields you could drop Temp Protection. Although if you're going to take Haymaker, I would take it earlier than 49 >.> Given you plan to run on x8, you'll have at least 1, often 2 bosses per spawn and 4 spawns with 3 bosses. You'll want more ST damage then. I personally run in, hit a Fake with Gloom then drop my AoEs. Once a Fake is getting to about half health, Gloom -> KO Blow -> Haymaker or Gloom will finish them off. Having almost no Fakes bubble makes your runs much, much faster. If you've only got KO Blow and Mu Lightning for ST damage you're making it much more difficult for yourself to kill them before they bubble.

With the level of recharge your build has, I would urge you to consider dropping Burn. Footstomp/Ball Lightning is more than enough to kill minions/Lts and bosses would need two applications of Fences anyway to leverage Burn. Add to that the fact that Fences has an absolutely miniscule radius, you'd be better off just spamming Footstomp/BL rather than messing around with Burn. When I used to have Burn in my build I only really used it on TFs for AVs or stuff like Cysts/the Computer in the 3rd ITF mish.

I agree with everything Silas said. From experience, you won't get as much use out of Burn as you think while farming this map. It's better used if you herd mobs in tight spaces, immoblize then use Burn, that way you'll keep the whole mob in the burn patch, but that's not viable here. You're not going to get a whole mob immobilzed with Fences before they're already dead unless you're lucky.

Do not skip Haymaker, I think you're making a terrible mistake on that one. Farming isn't just about AoE's when you put bosses in the mix. A solid ST attack chain is needed to farm efficiently.

No, 8 pts. of kb protection isn't enough to stand up to fakes, a while ago I only had that much and still got knocked around by them. Also, 6 slotted Hasten is a waste in my opinion. I only have a little more recharge than you and I often find myself reaching permahasten thanks to the FF +rech proc in Footstomp.

After some thought, I think you all are right about burn not being much of a factor on this map. I was mainly thinking it would be good for damage mitigation because that is what I used it for in the past on my Fire/Fire Brute, but I wasn't considering the fact that Foot Stomp will be all the damage mitigation I need. So I took you all's advice and dropped it on my new build and picked up Haymaker instead for my ST damage chain. Also, took out three of the +Rech. IOs from Hasten and used them elsewhere.

Thanks for everyone's input and I think I have a final build to work with now.

I like it, looking much better. I'm still not a fan of the Panaceas in Health but its your money

One thing to note is, if you want another slot for something you could take the Kismet +tohit out of CJ because Rage adds more than enough +tohit, especially since you've got good acc slotting and accuracy set bonuses so you don't really need it.

What I've done with my build is 2 slotted Boxing with Absolute Amazements, (whichever ones were cheapest at the time), for the recovery bonus. I'm not sure if you're already running this build so I'm not sure how good a feel you have for your endurance consumption/recovery, but for me personally I wanted to get as much as I could.

Looking at the build again, you could take the Posi Proc out of Fences because I wouldn't have thought you'd get much use out of it. Using Fences enough for the proc to be worth it would be counterproductive since you'd be nullifying your KD. What I'd do with the slot is move it to Haymaker and put a damage proc in there, (Mako lethal proc, ToD negative proc, whatever the KB set is that has a smashing proc).

Build looks much better now though, I'd say all that needs doing is optional fine-tuning.

Accually Fences has a good range. 10 is pretty average range on aes. The fact thats is targetable makes it generally more useful then some pbae 10 radius aes.a Now Ball has a max targets of 16 where fences has 10 targets and high damage so if you going with one, clearly ball is better. Everything else I agree with. Ball and FS will be all the aes you need. Soul master would be better for the Gloom to take down bubblers and Soul obiliteration upfront damage and extra acc debuff does stack nicely with the Def you were building. Even if not going with Def build, debuff is still cute just to help cut down a little on damage between healing flames.

Ditch Burn, pick up Haymaker. Burn nice for AVs and toe to toe PVP but for your pure farming its more annoying. For that matter if you go with MUs ditch Fences as well. I would keep temp protection but that also ditchable.

Best of Luck,
Cipher

burn is a great help on my generic IO ss/fire brute but I would imagine it would be the first to go on an IO build if i ever made one.

After messing around with a build to help modify yours with all things in consideration of what you like this is what i have came up with. it comes with slightly lower health and resist but makes up for it with its speed and larger heal. With doing the lib map the s/l dmg is not as high as the fire dmg and this build utilizes those things in consideration, but gives u a solid ST chain aswell as Aoe chain. Footstomp has higher dmg to.
