New Laptop and UI trouble.

I just got a new Inspiron 15 laptop, it has an ATI video card, and Windows 7. I've never played City of Heroes on either of these things before and I don't know where the problem lies. My problem is that on the user interface, the corners have become lines, NPC dialogue popup windows are blue and unreadable, my health and fury and end are a dark blue as is the inside of badge boxes in the badge tab. Many other small details are off like the close buttons being replaced by a blue box, but the world itself looks beautiful.

Are you running the latest video drivers?

Might as well post a CoH Helper log as well to give us details on your specific hardware.

We'll see....

I think so, the laptop arrived 5 days ago, and I haven't downloaded new drivers, so possibly not.

The 8.63 driver is going to be about 5 months old since the current driver is 8.68... so no, you're drivers are most certainly not-up-to-date... and knowing most Laptop vendors has had the OpenGL support stripped out so you are running in a software rendering mode.

Since the first 2010 driver isn't out yet, you can find the Catalyst 9.12 driver hotfix here: http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles...912Hotfix.aspx

To install the driver you will need to go here: http://www.techbeta.org/hardware/ati-mobility-modder/
