SS/Fire Brute Patron Synergies

Howdy folks. Well, it is hard to believe, but I actually have a brute at a level that I need to pick out a patron set.

I was thinking of going Mu. Reason for that is the -knockback in fences, so when I lay down a burn patch, and say a foot stomp, (or any kb smackaroo) I dont knock the mobs out of the patch. Will this work as I imagine, or is the theory behind it as flawed as when I got the ice epic on my fire tanker (Heads up. Mobs are very happy to ignore slows when they are scared...)

Also, I have heard that gloom is a popular choice for brutes, however, is it better than a spawn of deep fried mobs?

Also, I just want to put out there, that after more than four years of playing this game, I like knockback. At least on this brute. Against mobs that do kb, and with my kb, it makes the fight just a little more... fun. Kinda like the hulk getting knocked around.

How cool are the new SS animations eh? Nice work Babs. I think punch ground is my favorite power animation right now.

Thanks for reading,
SD

Yup, mu is a common pick to keep players in burn patches. I've seen people go with web envelope because it has a larger radius. The issue with /soul is that it is a cone, rather than an AoE, making it more difficult to use in this manner.

Some players do find that they don't lose very much if they don't use burn, and so have skipped the need for elec fences completely.

I think a lot of the choice comes down to what you want from your Patron.

Mu gives respectable damage.

Soul debuffs accuracy (which helps if you've layered Defence ontop of Fire's resistance)

Scorpion allows knockdown.

Not sure about Leviathan.

Personally, I went Scorpion on my SS/Fire as I like to use Footstomp as often as possible and find the mitigation of knocking folks over very useful. However, if does have a long animation time which can get annoying.

I want to crush enemies, see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentation of the women.

Thanks for your help folks.

Although, Elec Fences is pretty good for using with Burn it cancels the knockdown mitigation from Foot Stomp. All of the patron sets are pretty good in there own regards, it really depends what you want out of them.

Personally, I switched from Mu Mastery to Soul. There was a minimal drop in AoE damage, although I personally like the upfront damage from Dark Obliteration compared to the DoT of Ball Lighting. Soul Tentacles isn't that hard to use if you know how to leverage cones correctly. And the cream of the crop, Gloom, significantly increases the ST damage I can put out.
