The pod remained entirely inert as the APC carried it through the gates.
Tafari continues to run until he can point out an opening for his narrator to convey.
"I don't know if that's the cause of her condition or not but lets try to get her cleaned up it be easier to see bruises or puncher marks if she got stung by some poisonous insect." |
Paxtera, meanwhile, saw no reason to join in. Too many people trying to help would just get in the way, really. Instead she watched the interactions between the Gre'shil and the Khelari, a faint smile crossing her face.

It was the nature of Prosopopoeiasys to magnify karma. Carelessness to disaster, kindness to calming, mercy to healing. The greater the act, the greater the effect. A nudging that influenced things farther than otherwise possible. As happened here.
Trisys's ability to purify water was boosted.
Where Lazardarus's wet cloth passed, the water mixed with the blood and Trisys's power. The blood was then considered a contaminant of the water, and purified by transmutation into pure water. The same would be true for Jade, Ildela, and Kethara if their cloths were wetted with water. In addition to becoming much easier to remove, the blood was being turned to water, the cloths were wetted more, and the effect compounded. Not as dramatic as if Trisys had been immersed in a lake, yet still a small miracle.
The sticky remnants of feathers, hide, hair would quickly regain better coloring in the areas relieved of blood. A single drop of blood would worsen Trisys's overall condition, though for now further damage had curtailed to an almost-imperceptible crawl.
The more blood cleared, the more the remaining blood contrasted as if becoming neon. This was not actually so in the visible spectrum. Yet whatever the cause ensured that even moderate care would not accidentally overlook a harming spot.
There were two probabilities at this point.
First, the phenomenon was noticed and adjusted for. As the cloth was dampened beyond capacity, it could be used to wet others. It also would likely drip on blood not touching Trisys, showing the transformation effect lasted a short bit after touching her. The enhanced water could be used to cleanse not only the satyr but also all who encircled her. The end result would be blood remaining on neither Trisys nor those who administered this selfless act of mercy.
Alternatively, the cleaning continued as started. If persisted until all trace of blood was removed from Trisys, she could be cleaned. The cloths of those ministering relief would still have blood - though not as much as was removed. Furthermore, any blood brushed off without water would remain; most notably on Jade who had been in full contact with the Trisys to rescue her.
Jade didn't even note the blood that had transferred to him. He couldn't feel it, and due to the fact that he quite literally saw red all the time, he wouldn't find it unless he actually inspected himself. Right now, getting the stuff of Trisys was his focus.
"How strange." the Khelari could only remark, looking at the blood that still covered her hands, wondering how it could hurt someone. Then again, life in different places and all that, so she supposed she'd better get herself clean as well in order to not endanger the new arrival.
"I'll be right back." she declared, setting her step toward a nearby ridge, then swiftly climbing up and over the rock formation to disappear behind it...

At the gates of the weapons factory, the two frontmost guards turned to one another in confusion at the giant spider making a break for their garage in the rocks. Though both wore their helmets and masks, they could clearly see each asking the other what the heck was going on behind the opaque round lenses.
And then they shrugged.
"Food!" one of them yelled loudly, and the other personnel within the vehicle bunker took notice, some only turning around while others came forward from behind or out from underneath the machinery they'd been working on.
The second meanwhile performed the action nearly all of them mimicked a second later: he swung up the heavy assault rifle that had until now hung harmlessly beneath his left shoulder by its strap and started blasting the spider with rounds comparable to a .30-06.
The personnel in the APC didn't stay idle either, and though the escape pod it pushed prevented the vehicle's gunner from targeting the spider now in front of it, the armed graycoats emerging from the rear loading ramp had no such inhibitions. Everyone here was hungry, and spider stew didn't sound bad on an empty stomach...

"Cloth... oh yeah I have some more. Part of my travel pack for emergency reasons." He reached into his pouch and pulled out the extra cloth handing them out to those who will help.
The Gre'shil moved away watching the activities of the others "Why bother she weak should die. Pack be stronger." There was no hostility in Scar's voice just puzzlement over tending what Scar saw was the lowermost member of Jade's pack.

"Food? Oddly that what I was looking for when I stumbled on you." The spider said as it came to a halt. "Figures Humans figure away to make something that's not there. Please put down your weapon I do not wish to be forced to harm you."
This however was said to late as the humans opened fired. It leaped with surprising force sending it back and on top of the APC that it now knew where it was thanks to the Greycoats that had exited the craft. Well it was a calculated risk.
It turned on top of the APC roof and the abdomen shifted the spinnerets went to work spraying a sticky webbing at the Greycoats.

Ildela gave no response, but her sister waved her acknowledgement to the Khelari as the reptillian before the pair of them continued assisting in cleaning the blood off of Trisys. "Huh, weird", Ildela commented. "Where's all this water coming from?" The idea that Trisys herself was somehow purifying it out of the blood didn't occur to her.

"I think that's her doing that." Jade commented as he wiped the last of the blood from Trisys' body, being much more concerned with her wellbeing than where water was coming from. He didn't have the attention to note that there didn't seem to be any around this place - at all.
Someone not so distracted, however, may well have noted the importance of someone who could make water in such a seemingly barren, hostile land...

The personnel of the APC didn't seem very impressed. They were disgusted, but not impressed. As the sticky webbing covered their lenses, they kept shooting at the last place they had seen the spider, knowing that though their assault rifles could do a lot of damage, the vehicle's heavy armor would simply shrug it off.
Of course, said vehicle wasn't idle either. Now that the spider had jumped atop it, the arachnid was a sitting duck for the turret operator, and she didn't hesitate to pull the triggers. With a rapid rhythm of cracks, the high-caliber machine gun began pumping shells similar to 20mm rounds toward the beast at point-blank range...

The last trace of blood was wiped from her body. There was a pause as the final patch of color returned. Trisys blinked groggily, her vision not quite focusing on how the barren land greedily absorbed the excess water Jade squeezed from his cloth.
It wasn't just unto Jade the acorn-shaped connection offered torment. Sometime before being reset for use by Prosopopoeiasys it had gotten twisted out of true. It equally shared with the conduit exactly how her failings had resulted in the current predicament.
Thus Trisys knew of how Jade, Lazardarus, Ildela, and Kethara had had to go out of their way to rescue then recover her. The point of her existence was to be a support to Master, not the other way around. If she was capable of dying from embarrassment, the satyr would have fainted dead away at their feet.
For a fraction of a second it might have looked like she did just that, the way she collapsed down and tried to make herself as small as possible. Except a kneeling position bowed over to touch forehead to hands flat on the ground is more for extreme gratitude than grave. "Thank you," Trisys choked out. Possibly muffled by her submissive position but loud enough to reach her saviors.
Still Trisys felt unwell. Her vision remained blurry, unable to fully focus on the ground inches away. A dryness that had nothing to do with the volcanic air was causing her to pant and swallow convulsively.
She looked up. The four surrounding Trisys, Jade especially, shimmered as heat mirages. Further away the downed beast gave off waves like a roaring furnace, nearly drowning out the presence of Paxtera, Scar, and the other Gre'shil. The Khelari could not be seen.
It was the spilt blood. While Trisys was now clean, the liberated gore still swamped the satyr's senses, disabling her. The corpse was overwhelming. Yet it was the crowd encircling her, and the blood that remained on them, that confined Trisys. There was no room to flee.
Trisys shifted her weight nervously, the most movement she was capable of. Her amber eyes darting about were those of a frightened trapped animal.
"Clearly some kind of reaction to the blood." Lazardarus got up and walked a bit away and tried to clean his own arms. "What I wouldn't give for a nice waterfall to stand under."
The Gre'shil was watching the activities and from time to time look at the remains of the beast. A few licked their lips. Scar then blinked "Where green female go?"

Two legs were blasted off from the rounds. Greenish blood seeped out of the wounds. The spider had two choices fight till he died or run.
He chose to run rushing for the jungle like plants and moving in a Zig Zag pattern to avoid being hit from the gunfire.

Jade on the other hand noted none of this, the bulk of his focus on Trisys cowering in their midst like that, the concern for her overriding the more analytical and deductive parts of his mind.
"It's okay." he said softly, approaching her with an outstretched hand, completely oblivious to the blood she'd gotten on him earlier, "No one's going to hurt you. You're safe now."
The Khelari meanwhile returned the from the same direction she'd gone, but not quite in the same way. Leaping down from the ridge, she wasn't only spotless, but also grumbled quietly as her claws picked at a necklace of solid stone she'd apparently acquired while away. Closer observation would however reveal that it was exactly the same she'd had before, just coated in rock.
Unsatisfied with the progress her fingers were making, she tried to twist her head and the necklace into a position where her teeth could reach the thing and chew the rock off instead, but despite repeated attempts, she wasn't having any luck with that, and looked rather annoyed because of it...

The gunmen kept firing after the spider, but with most of those that had carried a good bead on it blinded with sticky webbing, it wasn't likely that any more rounds got to it. Those that could still see well enough soon came running about the perimeter of the escape pod, but found no more target. Disappointed and still hungry, they lowered their weapons.
Grumbles and mumbles were soon replaced by orders and acknowledgments, and before long the APC moved toward the bunker garage once more, taking the 'egg' inside while the remaining personnel de-webbed their compatriots.
Once inside, the expedition's CO in turn came outside, leaving the APC to take a closer look at their catch - and discovered the opening. That was certainly odd. He didn't quite know what to make of it. Readying his weapon, he motioned a troop of gunmen to him, then ordered two of the heavy tanks be taken off standby and moved to flanking positions. Only then did he command the escape pod be lowered enough so they could climb into the opening and investigate the interior of the thing, poking this, that, and of course the blinking lights both with fingers as well as the barrels of their guns...

Trisys whinnied. There really wasn't a closer term for it, except perhaps brayed. Jade's outstretched hand would have been less threatening as a hissing viper or a Rikti energy weapon discharging point blank.
Once more scrambling, Trisys used the opening left where Lazardarus moved from to backpedal. It was nearly an identical reaction to when Paxtera arrived in a time teleport with the group; save this time Trisys stole glances over her shoulder to see where she was going. She did not want a repeat blood bath. Nor to stumble into the Gre'shil or the grumbling Khelari.
"Please," Trisys begged of Jade, "Please, Master. It hurts... you're hurting me." She'd said it. Against better judgment, training, and experience. Trisys dreaded complaining, but the threat of experiencing blood touching her again was worse. Even Jade's shadow would be no refuge for Trisys until the blood of hunt/battle was as completely cleared from him as her.
The ever-informative acorn token noted that Lazardarus and Paxtera's daughters had the most of it, their observations deducing the bulk of what was going on with Trisys. Though it still refrained from pushing this or other status information about Trisys on Jade more than having the information available, as ever. Being magnanimous to Master or Bond was not its inclination.
The "blast door" styled opening remained firmly shut. The sequence of lights continued to flash in the exact same order. Red, orange, yellow, white, then flashing green twice, followed by blue and violet.
And now that they were all close enough, the sound of a mechanism whining just beneath the door repetitively could be heard. A short whirring noise of something moving, possibly a hydraulic device, followed by a very rough *clunk* that probably was not supposed to happen, and a screeching noise - Which repeated over and over again. Some of those there with finer hearing may have heard a very faint tapping noise - But it was incredibly faint indeed.
"I think we need to get her away from the smell of the blood. Perhaps M'lady you can transport us to my home where we can get cleaned." Lazardarus then looked at the Gre'shil "Perhaps not all of us... I don't think they will be welcomed at my home."
Scar looked at the group then at the Khelari "We stay" He went over "Scar can help"

Ildela and Kethara meanwhile had finished cleaning themselves off. There was perhaps the odd bit they'd missed here and there, but it wouldn't be much if it remained at all. "Jade, you're scaring her. The blood on your hands, I dunno why but it scares the piss out of her", Ildela told the metallic dragon.

"Me?" Jade stopped mid-step, his balance system keeping him upright despite the odd, bent-over position, which ended up looking a little comical before he straightened up and took a few steps back while he spoke, "But I...what...?"
Then Ildela told him of the blood on his hands and his head snapped down to look at the clawed palms, an expression of shock appearing on his face, "Oh! damn! How...urgh! I'm so sorry! Um, yeah, water...stuff. Yes. Uhhh...ma'am, can you watch them while we're gone?"
"Mh?" the Khelari stopped her tugging on the stone necklace for a moment, realizing she'd been spoken to, "Aw. But I wanted to come too. I like meeting new people."
"Thanks, I got it." she told Scar as he approached, pressing her claws into the spot of the stone she'd worked thin by now one last time, causing the whole thing to crumble off the stringy necklace, "There. Hm. A thought: would breakfast keep you guys happy until we get back?"
The tip of her tail briefly pointed in the direction of the slain behemoth as she said this...

The gunmen investigated...

Assuming the gunmen took extensive investigation using the proper methods, they would find a critical error that was the sign of a poorlydesigned or extremely fauty escape-pod: The door was STUCK. The mechanism that was continuously moving was meant to set off a series of explosive bolts and blow the outer blast door out. Why it had failed to do so was a mystery, but in any case there was a simple solution: Bang on the blast door really really hard. While normally that would have been an exercise in futility, all that had to be done was get the mechanism jolted and potential correct itself.
The question was whether the gunmen wanted to even do so. There was always the possibility they could just leave the egg sealed up and continue on with their plan...
Trisys had backed up as far as she could while still being in ear shot. In vain she tried to swallow the dryness away, still too close to all the carnage to escape its influence on her.
The relief at not having the returning green Khelari be blood-covered was as short-lived as the stone encrusting the necklace, for her words indicated she, too, would soon carry traces of blood.
It would take a direct vocal command or wish from Jade as Master to get Trisys near. Nothing short would get her to run the risk of recontamination from the residue on her saviors.
An extensive investigation using the proper methods, unfortunately, wasn't in the cards. An extensive investigation using the im proper methods, however, certainly was. When their literal poking around didn't yield any results, the masked greycoats went to bashing around, looking for the hollow echo indicative of hidden passages.
That they'd open up an unhidden passage with the same effort hadn't even entered their minds, but happen it did, and they started in surprise...

"Hey, it's okay." the Khelari approached Trisys when she saw the creature backing away, offering her a hand, "I didn't mean you. It's fine. See? All clean."
Jade meanwhile took a few steps to the side of his own, not wanting to panic Trisys any more than he already did, turning to the three women of a family in the process, "I think sooner better than later..."

The Khelari may claim to be clean, but she had been more drenched than Master. Such left a lingering scent even after the surface was cleaned. Her mouth alone would hold some while yet the smell of lifeblood its teeth had ripped from the beast's neck.
Trisys took a deep breath, fretting how to explain this. Then she paused, and gave an extra sniff. The behemoth was stinking the air, yet the Khelari was right. She was clean. Whatever she had done in the brief time away had completely purged her of the beast's blood. How extraordinary.
The offered hand was tentatively touched, Trisys unsure despite the clear scent and aura the Khelari gave off, then enclosed more completely. Not really a handshake, since her thumb did not interlock and the fingers curled around the far side. Bemused, Trisys tried to rotate the offered hand this way and that, examining.
"How..." Trisys looked up at the Khelari, a possibility forming. "Where did you get clean? May anyone go there?" Master had arrived with Paxtera in a tight group. Likely close proximity was required for her teleport. A proximity that would disable, even damage, the satyr.
If they could use whatever facilities the Khelari had nearby, the blood issue with Trisys could be quickly resolved and she would cease to detract from Master's purpose. Then Master could do... whatever he had wished to do that brought him here with the Gre'shil.
That they'd open up an unhidden passage with the same effort hadn't even entered their minds, but happen it did, and they started in surprise... |
The dark interior of the egg-like pod was flooded with a faint blue glow, and depending on the lighting within the interior of the base, so would the floor space beyond the opening. A terrifying crab-like creature bedecked with thick and cruel black chitinous exo-skeleton, with brilliant electric-blue streaks of illumination adorning its torso. It took a mockery of a humanoid appearance, with two thick armored and segmented legs and arms, though the latter ended in long and powerful pincers. Two sets of twittering vestigial arms waved to and fro, extending from the center of the creature's chest.
Normally, such a creature would have spoken in an entirely uncomprehensible manner - But this was Patches.
"You're not kheldians." The arthropod accused them flatly, the bits that acted as its mouth twittering and flailing about wildly, impossibly producing a perfectly rendered structure of language familiar to those all around it.
"Uh...yeah...kind of." the Khelari replied with trepidation, giving her hand a little pull in an offered attempt to assist Trisys off the ground. She glanced at the gathered group from the corners of her eyes as she told the satyr-like being, "I'm not sure it'd be good for you guys, though. It's a lava stream. You guys have a water place scent, and people from water places tend to burn in those."
"Except you." she eyed Jade curiously, the metal Dragon raising a brow in response, "Where are you from? That armor of yours is...weird. It blocks all the smell of your body. How's that work?"
Jade couldn't help but smirk at that, retorting with, "I'm a machine. Don't worry about it."
"I agree that water would be a better idea, though." he said, looking toward the family trio again, "Hey, you girls still with us? Don't go spacing out please. I'm not good at fixing that..."

"Okay M'lady if you may Teleport us to my Forest home. The forest is in a cliff plateau high grant walls." Laz looked to the south then points "It's in that direction, I think it be best that we arrive in front of the gates and not in the forest itself."
He looked Trisys "I think I might know what's happening. It's a guess but your a magical being correct? Some magical life have issues with Iron and others with blood. Perhaps we should travel in two groups to lesson the effects on you fair Lady." He smiled then "I think you would like my home it has many magical beings among the grand trees."
The Gre'shil pack was not oblivious to what was happening. The went after the caucus with predatory glee Ripping sections off the body with teeth and claws. Oddly none seem to really eat any they were carving up the body. Then Scar lifted some of the finer cuts of meat and went to the Khelari he lowered down in a bow pose and held up the flesh. "Your Kill. Your feast. Not right for us to eat till you are satisfied."
The Female Gre'shil hissed looking very annoyed and quietly to another Gre'shil "Me think Female is Kaja. NO pack offered kill to others before eating. She act like Kaja."

The spider had made it's way deep into the jungle and settled down. Looking over it's wounds the biggest was the missing legs two stumps ended in a scab of now dried green blood. His body had many spots where bullets penetrated or cracked the hard shell.
The worst however was his abdomen he was having trouble breathing bullets had damaged his box lungs. His black eyes scan his abdomen looking at the air holes as he breathed. Sighing he spotted some of the air holes was spitting out blood.
Settling down more he folded his legs. He needed rest the blood loss was making him drowsy. His body was shifting the flow of blood in his body valves closing to stop the loss. As he drifted off into sleep/unconscious he wondered if he would be able to regenerate from the damage to his organs.
"I think it is, yeah." Jade gave a nod to Lazardarus regarding the blood, watching the eleven man work to clean it off, "You have any more cloth?"
"Got anything that gets blood off?" he then replied to Kethara, Paxtera, Ildela and the Khelari regardless of Lazardarus' answer. If the man did have more, he'd ask for one and begin cleaning up Trisys as well. If not, he'd ask him to hand over the one he had so he could take over the job, feeling guiltily responsible for her current state.
The reptilian female meanwhile wasn't sure what to do, only looking on helplessly. There wasn't any surface water around here, and she somewhat doubted the satyr-like being could be cleaned off by means of a lava pool. Licking her clean probably wouldn't be very appreciated either, and she definitely wasn't carrying any sort of cloth...
