Just got my new system today, and still tweeking things. (Really miffed that I won't be able to do anything about no Outlook Express until at least Monday.)

Okay, the specs are:

-Intel Core2 Duo 2.93 Ghz
-4 GB DDR2 RAM
-nVidia Geoforce GT220 1 GB
-Windows 7 64-bit

Also, my screen resolution is 1,600x900, which is what I just chanced the game screen resolution to.

What advice is there for best results here?

On the following settings I get 60fps with my GTS 250. Using these as a guide you should be able to find your sweet spot:

I use Windowed mode (basically native screen resolution).

Particle Physics Quality: Very High
World Texture Quality: Very High
Character Texture Quality: Very High
World Detail: 100%
Character Detail: 100%
Max Particle Count: 50000
Vertical Sync: On (If I turn this off, I average 90fps)
FSAA: 4x
Shadows: Enabled
Use Geometry Buffers: Enabled
Anisotropic Filtering: 16x
Texture Crispness: Smooth
Shader Quality: High
Water Effects: High Quality
Depth of Field Effects: Disabled
Bloom Effects: None
Desaturation Effects: Enabled

With Vertical Sync off, I can reach 105fps in a mission. I usually leave it off as I don't really notice the tearing issues when looking from side to side.

Side note: I currently installed a quad-core which definitely boosted my FPS. When it was my dual-core it topped around 50-60 regardless if Vertical Sync was on or off.

Hope this helps!

We'll see....

Thanks, I'll try these later today or tomorrow - it's almost 4 AM here, and I need to get to bed.

(Actually, a lot of those sound similar to the settings I had for my ATI Sapphire.)

To put the GT 220 performance in context.

GT220 ~ 9500GT ~ 8600GT with the GT220 being slightly faster than the 9500GT which is slightly faster than the 8600GT.

Just putting this info out there so we don't get people poo-pooing the GT220.

The two obvious settings that impact performance on a low end card like this is screen resolution and AA mode. AF is relatively free (low impact on framerate) on modern GPUs but you may want to experiment with 8x or even 4x AF settings. If you are spending a lot of time in CoV or like to hang out in CoH zones with lots of water then you could drop the water effects a notch or two from Flameshot's settings.

You have the CPU power for the settings that are CPU intensive, physics and world detail, so you shouldn't need to play with those and you have the video memory for the highest quality textures.

Still in the end it's all about experimenting with the settings, using /showfps 1 to see how much performance is gained or loss and settling on what you consider to be a fair tradeoff between framerate and pretty.
