She's dead, Jim

My computer died today and I don't know how long it will take to fix. It crashed while on a Tf, much apologies to my teammates. The error "BOOTMGR is missing" looks like it will require a system recovery to resolve and the discs will take some time to get here since I'm also getting errors when trying to use the recovery partition.

I wish there was a CoH app for my iPod Touch (which is how I'm able to access the forums for now). I'll keep in touch as best I can

My recovery discs should be here by the 20th. I've been busy playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 on the XBOX360, which is an awesome game. However, once I beat it on Legendary difficulty, the damn thing died. Thankfully I still have my original XBOX from like 10 yrs ago and it still works! I guess it's true that they just don't make them like they used to. One of my favorite games of all time is still Justice League Heroes, an outstanding co-op game. So since my entertainment options keep dwindling with each passing day and gods forbid I *gasp* leave the house, I'm asking you to post your favorite game of all time (except CoH) because I really have nothing better to do than read these forums. Thanks!

I don't think people would have thought this of me, but my favourite game of 'all time' would have to be anything from Rockstar Games. Grand Theft Auto's mostly and when I'm feeling down right jerkery, I rock out with the Manhunt or The Warriors and just go nuts. Finish it in 2 days then head back to GTAs.

My favorites from the old Xbox were always the Tom Clancy games. Ghost Recon, the Rainbow Six stuff and the Splinter Cell stuff. I always loved to play Burnout as well.

Yeah Burnout was a great game. The Takedowns were sweet, especially where u could slow things down and aim for the fuel trucks for maximum damage!

wo0t! back in action, baby! sadly, i need a new graphics card. my 8500gt died on me. i can install the hardware, boot up the system and it works. but as soon as i install the drivers (either from the disc, from a windows update, or from nvidia.com itself) the system reboots and then i get a blank screen. i was thinking about an nVidia 9800gt, but i need to do a little more comparison shopping. any suggestions? minimal graphics sucks and gives me a headache when i try to play (probably because I've been spoiled by running full res and full quality for the past 8-9 months or so)

Why not make the investment to one of the recommended cards for Going Rogue?

according to paragonwiki, there are a few choices for video cards that allow ulta-mode but it also says that the information is based on internal testing and is subject to change. and if i spend the $300-$400 on the cards listed, i'll likely need to upgrade my PSU. And for anyone that has read the book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" then I think you can see where this whole project could snowball...

the end result being circuits and wires trailing from my body to the CoH mainframe. I love this game, but I'm just not ready for that kind of a commitment.

so for now, I'll likely get a nvidia 8800gt and then upgrade when GR actually comes out with solid specs for Ultra-Mode.

well, I did it...

got a new graphics card on the way, but it's too big for my current tower so I had to get a new case. And because the card is huge, I had to upgrade my power supply as well. If I keep going at this rate, I WILL eventually have a bioneural interface linked to the CoH mainframe with cybernetic implants to regulate my system's functions so I can spend more time doing important things, like gaming instead of eating and pooping.

GTX 275

I have the powah!

it might actually transform...with a few mods

Heh. Nothing's ever simple with computers.

Glad you're back up and running!

If you're on windows xp there's a very easy fix for this error but you will need to have another harddrive with windows installed on. The reason why it says "BOOTMGR" is missing is because the file "BOOTMGR" have changed it's name to lowercase letters which result in the system not finding the file. What you do is put the disk which can't find bootmgr as slave, boot up with another windows xp harddrive as primary. Find the "bootmgr" file, change it's name to "BOOTMGR", shut down the system. Set the disk that couldn't find "BOOTMGR" as primary again, remove the other disk and voila, your system will work again!'

Edit: I see that you got it working again. Congrats and welcome back to the game!
