I thought that Fire was the flavor of the month? lol just giving you a hard time. I just started playing my Dom after a 2 year break and flew from 30 something to 45 in no time. It has been all fun even if I can't beat a PToD boss without help.
Once I got a costume I liked on my Mind/Fire Dom, I really enjoyed him. 'Tis a blast. I lament that my altitis made me create a new character or 5 and have not played him that much lately. I am sure I will pick him up again, for I really do like Dominators.
I've always enjoyed dom's, but with the last round of major dom changes their pretty much exactly where they need to be, and are my most favorite AT, of course I admit I wouldn't mind seeing more power sets, ie Electric Control, Dark Control, Dark Assault, Illusion...
My Mind/Fire is my highest level Dom (my Grav/Elec right behind him) and while I can certainly see where Fire picked up some problems from the revamp, I avoid them because I pretty much don't use those powers. I never used Flares despite being stuck with it, and don't have Consumption. And he's always been my fastest leveller, even though it seems like he does die more often than everyone else.
The new damage has certainly helped my survival, so I'm not unhappy. I'm going through the 40-50's myself, but hey, I'm in no hurry, I have only two currently that I actually pushed to 50. I'm an altoholic, so I switch around and take the levels as they come. 
My first villain was a Dom. I hit 40 at a break neck speed, as I think most did, as villains broke. And it was a joy to play. Damage and control in one very neat package. Ultimately a challenge, which I enjoyed. But then the tail end of the villains broke, 40 to 50. I slogged my way through it, for the first time I actually considered quitting the game. It was NOT fun. I am not sure I could even recommend it now!
Recently I picked up my Fire Dom, unaware of the changes, wow the fun was back. Its not all about power leveling. I eat dirt a lot, but if I get it right, make the right choices, nothing stops the Domination, it is an old shoe. I also think it is an age thing the more difficult the alt the more attractive I find it, c'est la vie.
Hats off to Uncle P and Liliacea for sticking with it. The more I play the more I feel it is about the right concept rather than the flavor of the month.
