New Base Entrances

Probably my least favorite part about SG bases are the portals. I think they should have secret entrances instead of a portal. I know the old batman had a cave covered in vines he drove through.

In every zone where there is a base portal there will be several options for your new base entrance. The SG registrar will let you choose ONE. All the zones have the same entrances so say you make your new entrance an office building in kings row, it will be an office building in Galaxy city.

here are some ideas for the new entrances
-sewer grate- looks like the sewer network but it leads to your base
-deserted building- just a random building somewhere
-warehouse- same has deserted building
-Secret doorway- just a black outline of a door in a wall

as for design the graphic would just be walking in the grate or door. there would basically be a invisible portal inside so you would be teleported. I'm pretty sure that would work


Please leave more ideas for entrances and anything else

Kind of a pain for having coalies over or running the VG SFs

true, maybe the portals will also be open to coalies only though, as for the SF same thing maybe? or the bases could be trackable, so for coalies it would show up on the minimap.

i know some people won't like the idea so the portals could still be open if you choose.

I'd like to be able to have a larger entrance room myself.

You always spawn into the same 2x2 room in every base.

I'd love to have a truly EPIC entrance room.

I suppose the Devs could leave the current SG portals in the game just to make things easier for non-RP situations. But I do like the idea of being able to set a specific door in the game to be your unique entrance that could be used for RP.

The game should allow any current mission door in the game to be set to be a "secret" SG enterance. The game already has those pop-ups to deal with the rare situation getting a real door mission assigned to the same door as your SG enterance. In that case when you click the door you'd just choose if you want to do the mission or go to your base. Of course this idea has been suggested for years so I'm certainly not holding my breath for it.

thats not really relevant to the original topic. It's about changing the portal not the room, although i agree i would like a larger entrance.

i don't think it should be all of the mission doors because that's a lot and there's only one portal per zone, thats why i had the idea to choose one entrance. But i think they should reuse the mission doors, that's a good idea

I'm up for more options. Let the base designers decide if they would rather have aesthetics or utility (ie: switching easily between coalie bases). So color me /signed. Also, would be nice to have different base portal options for the base interior as well (ie: baisc doors, vault door, hidden bookcase door, manhole, etc.).

oh wow i didn't think of interior doors! i should've though, the bookcase idea brings me to another idea

-hidden bookcase- inside the library (new building, this and gives missions. Also has crafting tables) there is a glowing bookcase, that's the secret one.

Restrictions: Edge of Plot
Possible additional restriction: Zone Specific Doorway
A Zone Specific Doorway if placed must lead to a zone containing a ferry terminal.
Or the Ferry Terminal room can not be placed in a base.

6. Etc...

Just want to point out if the secret entrance is glowing it isn't much of a secret.

You know I would take the SG lift or aka elevator.. you know like with the X-Men or the Avengers.. or cooler still, a SG in space and we take a telepad up to it? that'll be cool

Where would the lift be? Maybe a building that's an office but there's an elevator that takes you up, so it's a cover building. The telepad would be very cool but they'd have to add space walls so it looks like you're looking into space.
Another could be a hole in the ground. Like in the Mercy snake missions.
I'm not sure how this could be done but an underwater one, i was in a mission map and i could swim underwater, but only in that one small body. Maybe there would be one of those and under the water would be a hatch or door.

oh yeah, i saw that, i don't think they could add a maze of sewer though.
Another one might be a helicopter, that would be less of a secret but still, someone's base might be in France or something.

Well I didn't mean like the whole maze thing..just kinda like a sewer hall with a wall that flips open then flips closed and what not but yeah I hear ya. This is a really good idea. I hope the Devs see it.

Yeah, i hope the Devs see it too, so i keep posting new ideas. I don't have anymore right now, Coolio covered almost all of them.
