Hi all,
Just thought I'd finally respec my first 50, who's been gathering dust on Liberty. Sure, there are other scrappers out there that kill things faster, but few sets IMO offer as much satisfaction as MA. There's just something about planting a foot to the face that makes me happy. Anyway, I'd appreciate the input. Oh, and Teleport is concept. I've tried every other travel power for her, and nothing fits like TP. Ah well.

Oh, and I'm not sure about grabbing Stealth instead of taking either Hasten or Elude. MAs aren't always the most popular scrappers, and I thought having a Stealth 'Porter on the team might be useful. Thoughts?

First off, MA is teh sexiest of all primaries (I know BS might dispute this ) and has great single target damage and as well some decent knockback/down mitigation.

Please please please don't pick a power based on whether or not it will make you attractive to a team. Pick whatever tickles your fancy or at least helps your build.

I'm at work so I can't comment too much on your build, but here are some quick thoughts:

-60% melee defense is not needed with SR. Trim that back to ~45% by getting rid of the ToD's in your melee attacks for recharge bonus based sets

-you don't need 2 recharges in practiced brawler; 1 is more than sufficient



If you're looking to mix/max your build let me know and I'll brew something up, but other than the above changes, it looks you've covered everything and should be fun to play!

Good to know about the ToD sets. Any recommendations for a replacement? I'd love to free up an extra slot from Practiced Brawler as well, so that's cool. As for MA/ as a primary, she was my second toon and first 50 way back when. And it IS sexy! (Funny enough, I couldn't wait for the alternate animations to come out, and was so disappointed with them that I've decided to stick with the originals.)

Guide to MA/SR

~ Soft cap defense.
~ Build for a SK - CK - SK - CAK chain.
~ Profit.

If any set doesn't need Touch of Death it's /SR. Touch of Death sucks in overall stats so you want to avoid them unless it's in an extraneous attack you only use infrequently (like while Hasten is down.) With Ninja Run another option is to skip a travel pool, but you'll probably want Combat Jumping anyway.

The biggest decision you have as MA/SR is whether to go Hasten or Aid Self. It's possible to go both; just expensive.

For soft capping defense you shouldn't need to gimp your melee attacks. Slot out all your defenses, take Weave, Combat Jumping, +3% Steadfast and a full set of Gaussian's and you are done. You can also take Hover instead of CJ.

Once you are soft capped, take Hasten and work on recharge. As I said, you are going for SK - CK - SK - CAK.

If you also want Aid Self you can soft cap without Weave or Manuevers. (That's what my build looks like.) It's just more expensive. Basically you cap Ranged/AoE with Blessing of the Zephyr and round out melee with one Touch of Death in an extraneous attack (like Eagle's Claw so you can throw it occasionally to add flourish to the end of a group because it's pretty) and Oblit in Dragon's Kick.

That's what I did except instead of Combat Jumping or Hover I put a TOD set into Boxing (I wanted a "Fist of Death" and the negative damage proc going off when I'm slumming and using Boxing is funny) and then a Blessing of the Zephyr set into my travel power. Frankenslot those attacks for monster enhancement!

I personally would include Aid Self instead of Stealth for taking on the big baddies. As some has said before you don't need 60% in Melee, 45 is the soft cap and SR has excellent defense debuff protection. I would drop some of the touch of deaths to replace with Hecatombs or at least Mako's.

Here is my build which I currently run for MA/SR, its expensive but solid. The Absolute Amazement proc in EC has to go, just fyi.

Fully-slotted /SR with all the toggles and passives has 95% defense debuff resistance, which is huge.

By way of example, my MA/SR Scrapper is sitting at just over 45% to 47% to all 3 positions. I took point on two ITFs yesterday (yes, I got merits reduced for running them too close together). The Romans debuff defense...um...a LOT. They can tear apart most defense builds. But my defense never dropped below 42-44%, even when I was the only melee character left standing, surrounded by Romans and dark energy using Nictuses...Nictus's...Nicti? I didn't even bother to hit any purple inspirations, which of course one could carry for emergencies.

As for helping your team with stealth, it's not going to happen unless you pick up a Celerity or Unbounded Leap +Stealth and slot it in sprint. Though, if you tp, it's a lot cheaper to get...I don't recall the IO, it's got a picture of a clock...well, that +stealth. But you'd have to tp every 2 minutes to stay invisible.

The WP tank was apparently a Nouveau Fiddy without any enhancements, and died in nearly every spawn. The Fire Tank was a bit more durable, dying every 3rd or 4th spawn, and quit when we got to the control computer. He didn't have any KB protection, either.

So I outlasted darn near everyone on the team, except that my AoE defense is only about 37%, and it only takes two or three of the Boss/EB AoE swipes to kill me, so when everyone else died and I stood there taking on the entire spawn with visions of "sole survivor glory" dancing in my head, 5 of those Roman bosses would do the spinny attack and cut me to ribbons.

What sucked, though, is I have Vengeance (and got MUCH use out of it), but even with it active and my defense at 97 - 115%, they still get those lucky shots in.

So now I'm fooling with Mid's, looking to add more AoE since there's so darn much of it in the ITF. Happily, I got a purple drop on the TF, so I have another 140 mil to play with now.

Okay, this is what I finally ended up with. I'm still having trouble with reading totals in Mids, but that's just me. I found that I'd forgotten a key power or two in the last few builds I'd come up with, but hopefully that's no longer a problem. Thanks for looking this over everyone!

Basically no experience with MA so won't comment there. You are going to want to get the melee defense to 45+ (it's sitting at +42%). Fastest way without significant changes is swap back to a ToD set for the melee (edit: in Eagles Claw) and then take one slot from health (End/Rech) move it to Recall and use 2 BotZ there for the +ranged you lost.

Did what you said and made a few other changes. Thanks for the input, too. This is only the second toon I've used Mids with, and I'm still getting used to it.

If any set doesn't need Touch of Death it's /SR. Touch of Death sucks in overall stats so you want to avoid them unless it's in an extraneous attack you only use infrequently (like while Hasten is down.) With Ninja Run another option is to skip a travel pool, but you'll probably want Combat Jumping anyway.

The biggest decision you have as MA/SR is whether to go Hasten or Aid Self. It's possible to go both; just expensive.

For soft capping defense you shouldn't need to gimp your melee attacks. Slot out all your defenses, take Weave, Combat Jumping, +3% Steadfast and a full set of Gaussian's and you are done. You can also take Hover instead of CJ.

Once you are soft capped, take Hasten and work on recharge. As I said, you are going for SK - CK - SK - CAK.

If you also want Aid Self you can soft cap without Weave or Manuevers. (That's what my build looks like.) It's just more expensive. Basically you cap Ranged/AoE with Blessing of the Zephyr and round out melee with one Touch of Death in an extraneous attack (like Eagle's Claw so you can throw it occasionally to add flourish to the end of a group because it's pretty) and Oblit in Dragon's Kick.
How much global recharge do you need to make that chain stick?

I'm working on a MA/SR scrapper as well and am trying to work out a build that keeps Stealth in it while reducing the number of active toggles I need to run. I haven't got any characters high level yet so don't know how hard/expensive some of the sets are to get. I'm not as concerned with massive damage output but more in being able to survive and have fun running around.

Some general questions before the build... What are the animations for Boxing and Kick? Is boxing similar to Brawl? Are these 2 attacks good enough to actively use (Kick vs Crane Kick)?

I've been able to reach the 45% soft Def cap without having to actively run Weave (according to Mids') but I'm looking for any sort of feedback (be it power change, set change, activate different toggles, etc). I would like to keep the active toggles down to no more than 5 (if possible) and without going into highly expensive builds. Thanks!
