What else do I really need?

Okay, so I got a small Villian Base, sitting on a small to medium PvP-capable plot.

2 (2x2) Transporter Rooms w/8 zones accesible. (Mercy->GV, PocketD)
(2x2) Control Room w/ Flashback Mission Crystal, Empty Salvage Rack
(2x2) Medbay with RezRing, Inspiration Storage (Rarely Used)
Entry Room (Of course)
(4x4) Workshop w/ 7 Storage Tables (none of which are full), 1 Salvage Rack (almost full), Salvage Vault, two Workbenches (redundant, placed right under Vault door so as not to have to move around)
(2x2) Power Room. Generates more than enough for current needs.
(2x3) Control Room. Generates more than enough for current needs.
3 (2x1) Rooms. Decorative use. (faking hallways, jail cell)
1 (3x3?) Room of some type (Workshop?) Has a pop-up turret. No other features of note.

Since I'm the only account using this base anymore, I don't see myself unlocking any of the VG badges for the next level of unlockable stuff.

What else do I really need?

All I can think of is:
1) Maybe a couple of storage tables, but the ones I have are not full, and things are organized in a manner that suits me. (I could divide them up a bit more, but would end up with several tables at less than 40% capacity).
2) Maybe a couple more Salvage Racks and start sharing between alts.
3)Or a couple decorative rooms. (A Pool is what, a recessed floor and some Slow fields?) I'm having a bit of Writer's Block when coming up with ideas for rooms.

Any Ideas?

Only 2 things I can think of:

One more teleporter and beacon for the Rikti War Zone.

and

The Mission Computer/Oracle for the Silver Mantis Strike Force.

Neither of these is a "MUST" haves but they can be handy when you need them. There is probably more depending on your play habits but this is all I can see right now half asleep.

I'd go crazy with as little salvage storage as you've got. And you don't *need* 7 enhancement racks, since they hold 100 each. A mere 2 enhancement racks is *plenty* (one for commons, one for sets).

Here's the storage arrangement I've got in my base blueside:

  • Two workshops (one arcane, one tech)
  • 3 common salvage racks (arcane tiers 1, 2 and 3)
  • 3 uncommon/rare salvage racks (arcane tiers 1, 2 and 3)
  • 1 transfer salvage rack (arcane, meant to be kept empty to facilitate transfers among characters)
  • 3 common salvage racks (tech tiers 1, 2 and 3)
  • 3 uncommon/rare salvage racks (tech tiers 1, 2 and 3)
  • 1 transfer salvage rack (tech, meant to be kept empty to facilitate transfers among characters)
  • One invention table (arcane workshop)
  • 1 vault (arcane workshop)
  • 2 enhancement storage racks (tech workshop)
  • 1 inspiration storage rack (infirmary)
That gives me 18 storage items (14 salvage, 2 enhancement, 1 inspiration and 1 vault) which is the maximum limit for bases. I've got a system which helps keep my salvage racks "organized" so that whenever anyone in the SG needs something, they know exactly which rack(s) to go to in order to find it (if we've got it on hand). We've got an "overflow" salvage rack for both arcane and tech specifically intended for temporary holding, allowing a single player to transfer salvage between alts (rather useful for moving candy canes around!).

This is, in my experience thus far, the most "useful" combination of storage items.

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

Up until this point, one Salvage Rack was meant for Costume Salvage, with 4 sets in there at all times, the remainder kept on a L50 of mine who had all his slots already.
The other one went completely unused and forgotten.

The seven enhancement tables are segregated (and filled) as follows:
*Sets: Attacks, Pet Damage. 70%, a bit of it is junk.
*Sets: Defence, Resistance: 40%+
*Sets: All other Misc. Sets (Heals, Acc.Heals, Mezzes, Travel, DeBuffs), 80%+, much is junk.
.......
*Common IOs: Acc, Damage, Recharge, EndRed (a.k.a. "Attack Slotting") 80%+
*Common IOs: Defence, Resist
*Common IO's: All other non-travel (Heal, Stun/Slow/Hold, Etc.)
......
*Common IO's: Run, Jump and Fly. Also: SO's for lowbies to grab for sale.

First I'm going to take Redlynne's advice and get some more Salvage Racks, moving some storage into that Turret Room, primarily the better or higher-level stuff. Make that my Mad Scientist's* Workshop, since the VG's resident mad scientist is an upper level (and rank).
Salvage hadn't been a concern or rather had been overlooked, but Candy Canes have brought up the issue.

And somewhere I'll need to put in a pool.

Aluminum_Dave: I'll look at grabbing a RWZ beacon fairly soon and a mission computer eventually.
I think I'm only one badge away from the RWZ beacon, and in the meantime I think the Cap TP'er puts me close enough to the Vanguard building. If I get that last beacon, one TP pad in a 1x2 will look just right.
Darn shame you can only put 1 beacon into that little room. Otherwise I could have a hallway with 5 teleporters in thier own little alcoves. I sorta have that with the 2x2 rooms, but not quite.
My friend and his multiple accounts (His, His brother's, his son and his GF) have gone unpaid, so SFs are out of the picture for a while. Still going to eventually get the mission computer. I'll at least arrange a decent-looking place for it for now.

Thank you both for your input. I've neglected updating and upgrading my base for a while now, having set-up the transporation, crafting/storage and medical aspects to my liking.

I"m in a smallish SG with a pretty big base, but no real interest in base raids, as far as I've heard. We've got all the usual amenities: 12 teleporters for all blue-side zones, basic reclaimator, robo-doc, vault and so forth. As our base expanded, we put in a swimming pool and hot tub, and when I first saw one with Slow Fields I loved the look.

It's a BIG swimming pool. Six slow fields would do the job nicely, with maybe one more for the hot tub, and salvage is cheap...and we already had the prestige laying around....

Those little Slow Fields use 200 energy APIECE -- we're already pushing the Basic Generator (with Circuit Breakers) pretty hard, and using 1210 of our total 1300 energy. So to get to use multiple Slow Fields for the pretty 'water' effect in the pool, we need to upgrade to a Turbine Generator for a million more prestige...which probably means a bigger Energy Terminal room, which means rearranging the base and shelling out another 90,000 prestige, which means....

"So here's our swimming pool, which is currently drained so we can re-grout the tiles. And down here are our locker rooms...."

"But it wasn't anything some purples and oranges and lots of screaming in fear couldn't handle." -- Werner

30 level 50's: 12 scrappers, 7 other random melee types, 11 blaster/blapper/support squishies, two accounts, and a TON of altitis since 4/28/04

Update:

Quote:
3 (2x2) Transporter Rooms w/9 zones accesible. (Mercy->GV, PocketD, RWZ)
1 (2x2) Control Room w/ Flashback Mission Crystal, Empty Salvage Rack
1 (2x2) Medbay with RezRing, Inspiration Storage (Rarely Used)
Entry Room (Of course)
1 (4x4) Workshop w/ 7 Enhancement Storage Tables (none of which are full), 1 Salvage Rack (almost full), Salvage Vault, two Workbenches (redundant, placed right under Vault door so as not to have to move around)
1 (2x2) Power Room. Generates more than enough for current needs.
1 (2x3) Control Room. Generates more than enough for current needs.
1 (2x1) Rooms. Decorative use. ("jail cell") 1 Enhancement table: Junk IOs.
1 (2x2) Workshop. 3 Salvage Racks, 1 empowerment station.
Added RWZ access (previously went through Cap, since teleporter dropped near the BM)
Added 1 Enhancement table, 3 Salvage racks, 1 Empowerment station.
Had 6 Crystal Focus in the power room, but since only two do any good, the redundant ones were tossed.
Still have 1.7 million Prestige, but am pretty happy so far.

Our Blueside SG base is larger, but looks pretty redundant to me. (14-15 enhancement tables and only 1-2 Salvage racks? What's the point?) I just inherited it as well. Feel like trimming some of the fat, since I'm the only account there as well. Previous Super-Leader loved to craft any recipe that would sit still and toss it in the bins to outfit his other two accounts. Never seen so many Accurate ToHit DeBuffs and Defense DeBuff Set enhancements, especially when for players that love Tanks, Blasters, Scrappers and "H3al0rz".
