Differenciate Resist shields from Defence shields.

A simple request. Can we away from the bubble shape when it comes to the damage resist shields of the War Shades and get something more form-shaped?

Honestly, I don't get where the differentiation comes in. Forcefields is the only defense buff of any kind that's remotely bubble-like. There are more Defense buffs that are form fitting than otherwise, and let us not forget that Sonic buffs were originally a bubble too.

So I will answer with my generic reply to requests for animation changes: Change for Change's sake is bad.

Well, resistance shields could be cube-shaped, I guess

More seriously, yes, it does bug me that Kheldian bubbles are resistance-based when they look so much like Forcefields, and you're right that a more consistent representation would be nice. For instance, if you see Dark attacks, you can expect them to debuff your accuracy, and if you get hit with ice powers, you can expect them to slow you down. It would be nice to have a bit more consistency in shields.

On the other hand, with power customization's possible future, quite the contrary may be prudent.

I agree with this.

Kheld bubbles have always bugged me too. But I think they're here to stay. I remember a while back during a beta (forget which issue) that the shield graphics got kinda broke and the bubble wasn't displaying. There was quite a lot of approval from the testers for the new look, but that got shot down and the bubbles returned.

I have to say though, the body glow only for the S/L Shield looked freaking awesome.

I think bubbles can be consistent with resistance. For every incoming attack, the bubble deflects away part of the damage, and the rest comes through to hit. For defense, the bubble acts differently: attacks are either completely deflected, or can bypass the bubble to hit.

In this game, I think most resistance powers are like a layer on the body. If an attack hits, the body resists part of it. I guess this is where the suggestion of this thread comes from. From the Warshade's power description, it's not clear that the graphics have to be a bubble or not. Probably, the bubble is what the designer envisioned the powers should look like.
