December Player Choice Awards: Customs - Voting

Player Choice: Customs - Voting Rules

  • Voting will be open through December 31st at 11:59pm EST.
  • You may vote in either category, or both categories.
  • You must vote for a first choice, second choice, and third choice Please be clear with your order.
  • First place choices get 3 points, second place choices get 2 points, and third place choices get 1 point.
  • Nominees may only vote for a 2nd and 3rd place choice, and not for their own entry. This approximates every nominee voting for their own entry in 1st place.
  • The group or character with the most points at the end of the voting period wins. In the case of a tie, 1st place votes will be used as a tiebreaker, then 2nd. In a true tie, a vote-off will be held over the weekend.
  • The winner will recieve 25 million inf transferred to the character of their choice.
  • Links go to the entry post where you can see the pictures and descriptions. I recommend also playing at least one of their arcs to get the full experience.

Due to time constraints, I was not able to play these arcs at this time, but I did select each of them and enter at least one mission of each so I could see all the entries. I plan to play some later when things are less busy.

Choosing which to vote for was not easy. Some of the groups were visually awesome, some had great themes and bios and some were extremely detailed and very well thought out and themed.

In the end I chose the following for Best Custom Group:

My votes:

Groups:
2nd: Clave Dark 5's WickerWork. I liked the look of them, and they played pretty well. Loved the look of the Lantern Warrior especially.
3rd: Lazarus's Nagan Hedgemony. They're interesting, nice costume designs, and varied/interesting powersets.

Characters:
1st: New Age Ronin's Becky. She's just absolute fun.
2nd: FemFury's Erica Lashion aka Escalation. Fun arc, interesting villain, and reminds me of one of my own arcs.
3rd: LaserJesus's Ashton. Another one that's just plain fun.

For Best Custom Group:
2nd Choice is LaserJesus's Freedom Militia. They're like a good-guy version of the Outcasts and have a certain kind of charm. If only we had more hero groups to fight in CoV.
3rd Choice is Clave Dark 5's Wickerwork. The designs are nifty and nothing seemed out of balance or overpowered.

For Best Character:
2nd Choice is LaserJesus's Ashton. This guy is amusing and you get to kill him in new and amusing ways at least once an arc since he keeps coming back from the dead.
3rd Choice is Fem Fury's Erica Lashion. She actually tries to make it personal after the first time you take her down.

Clave Dark 5's WickerWork gets an honorable mention as my valueless fourth place vote. I loved the whole idea and the tie-in to the CoH canon.

I also wanted to comment on Laser Jesus's Freedom Militia as I thought the arc was great in that it is pretty much the first time I genuinely felt like a comic book villain. As strong as some of the CoV content is, the devs could definitely learn a lot from playing this arc. The reason I didn't vote the Freedom Militia is that there bios fall into the standard trap of "my powers = my bio". Sorry, but that really turns me off.

My character vote will be following soon but, I just wanted to comment on rule five (the you don't get a first place vote if you're nominated thing). Had I known that this would be the rule going into this process I would have insisted that K 10's nomination be pulled as I feel that no nomination is worth me losing three points of voting power.

Best character was another hard choice. My votes are:

1st – The Firecracker Kid - well developed and funny
2nd- WADDLE - So loveable - the one and only ally the friend I played with didn't want to ditch
3rd – Cobalt Stinger - an interesting contact who helped me enjoy an arc I really loved

An honorable mention goes to McGrimm. I loved his bio!

Since it was based on nominations by others, and the way I'm calculating the mandated votes as you put it, this unique case you technically get two first place votes for both of your own characters, as well as a second and third place vote for whoever you choose.
