Need some info about Healing bonuses

Hello all.
I am in WW looking at Healing sets. If a set bonus says it improves all your healing powers by 5% does this mean it improves the healing of the powers Health and Dull Pain???

If so, I'm going to place a bid

Thanks in advance.

Lisa

Sorry to contradict (partially), but NO and YES.

Health is *NOT* a healing power. It is a REGENERATION power and is unaffected by healing bonuses. Healing powers can be identified by you going click and a green number appears over your or someone else's (or mulitple someones) heads.
Examples: Heal Other, Healing Aura, Aid Other, Aid Self, Dull Pain.

Powers that increase your RATE of self-healing for a duration are regeneration powers and are not affected by healing bonuses.
Examples: Regeneration Aura, Instant Healing (yeah, despite the name it's a regen power and not a heal power).

Also please note: *SOME* heal powers do *NOT* receive the healing set bonus. These would be the ones that also accept Damage Resistance sets, like Reconstruction in the regen set.

Just posting to support Ironblade's info as correct. Set bonuses don't help with +Regen powers, and they don't affect healing powers that grant resistance. This latter bit is a side effect of some complicated interactions between the "attributes" of healing/damage (healing is negative damage) and damage resistance.

D'oh, for some reason I read that as "Healing Aura" and not "Health."

I did exactly the same thing, DB. I had to re-read the OP a few more times before I caught it.

I found a good way to find if a power is not a "Healing power" is when it's got "Healing" in its name.

When I proudly got my first set of Numina's together on my Regen Scrapper and it affected only Reconstruction and partly Dull Pain.

Thanks for such wonderful answers. I am so sorry about the mix up with Health. I tried to be clear that I was talking about the power Health. I guess I should have said somewhere in the post that the toon I was shopping for was a Fire/Invul...no healing aura there.

Well, as it is my only source of a Heal, any boosting of Dull Pain will be welcome with open arms.

I am going to save this info you all have shared.

Thanks so very much for helping me understand

Lisa.

Mind you it only boosts the healing part of Dull Pain. (at least as far as I recall).
DP increases your max hit points (and thus your HP per second regeneration rate) and then seems to heal the hit points that were added, so you gain actual use-able hit points and not just a higher maximum that you first have to fill yourself.
Only the latter was affected as I recall, not the increase of your HP maximum.

That's why I said it partly worked with Dull Pain.
It'll only be useful if you use Dull Pain as Heal, not if you activate it before a fight.

Dull Pain is a funny power.

1st it increases the maximum hit points
2nd it adjust so your current HP is the same % of the new total
3rd it then applies the healing amount.

Stupid_Fanboy's guide is still the best reference out there on this power and the analogues.

On exception of note are healing powers that grant a duration of Damage resistance:

Reconstruction (Toxic Res)
Healing Flames (Toxic Res)
Earth's Embrace (also Toxic Res)
etc.

Such powers do not benefit from the healing set bonuses. Why? no idea.

I'm afraid it might be not only easier but also shorter if they just listed the powers the bonus does enhance in its description.
