Win7 From Vista 64 Bit
Outside of doing a defrag of your drives, and using something like CCleaner to clean up the registry, you should be good. The upgrade is pretty smooth and easy. Of course, if you have had problems with the system in any fashion, I would do a clean install, otherwise the issues will just transfer to the new OS.

Oh. Bring a magazine. There's very little to do during the install.
The upgrade process of Vista Ultimate 64-bit to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit was pretty seamless for me. No real issues. I was disappointed by the number of reboots and time required. Something like 4-5 reboot during the whole process. Means you kinda have to babysit it. I had to reboot an extra time to take the Windows 7 DVD out of the drive because the process didn't give you a chance to take it out. And when the machine rebooted, it booted off the DVD which is not what was supposed to happen. Lame.
Compare that to Mac Leopard to Snow Leopard. Put in disk, it copies stuff a while, reboot, does some more stuff. Done. No goofy stuff like rebooting just to get the DVD out of the drive.
I would also recommend a fresh install rather than an upgrade. There are just too many things that can cause an issue. At least with a fresh install, you can very easily resolve an issue with a simple process of elimination. Something that can't really be done with an upgrade as anything wrong with your system (Whether you're aware of it or not) will carry over.
Upgrade or fresh install, it should go very smoothly. There isn't much that needs to be done other than to watch to screen.

We'll see....
Windows Vista Home Premium, 64 bit to be exact.
I'll be taking the plunge maybe this weekend, probably the weekend after. Accoridng to what I have read, this should be a very straightforward transition.
Besides the usual advice of backup everything first is there anything specific I should be looking at doing with this particular upgrade ?
