Yes it will. The downside is that most of the uncommon and rare recipes that you get will be level 49 which tend to have a much lower sale price than level 50s
Drops are random. there is no sure fire way to farm them. you may get one by kiling a longbow in RV, or you may go dropless farming 8 man spawns for 6 hours.

And funny thing, because right after I posted this, I started farming. 5 minutes into the first run, I got a purple recipe

Just don't get discouraged when it doesn't happen that fast all the time. It's not uncommon to go 10 or 15 runs with no purples at all.
Will this work well if I farm on -1 x8, no bosses?
