DM/Shield Build.

Hello fellow scrappers.

I know that there have been posts about DM/Shield builds before, but I was hoping to find a very expensive fully done build that people actually use.

I can't seem to make a build with soft-capped defense to atleast melee, and perma hasten, if that's even possible on a DM/Shield scrapper.

If someone has a similar build to what I described or one that someone uses, please PM me with the build.

Thanks, Roman

It won't be possible to obtain permanent hasten without significant sacrifice to your defenses. Also I'd make good use of the search feature....here is a link to my current build.

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...=Dark%2FShield

It has soft capped defense, around 160% recharge, siphon life heals for over 250 hp, average regeneration and recovery. I'm sure I could increase those but I'd have to sacrifice fire blast and fire ball.

I'm actually playing a dm/shield scrapper now. I'm more of a concept player and came up with a really neat idea...

Anyway, I was wondering how this combo plays at higher levles???

A damage buff
Soft capped defences
With PP you'll have good regen and recov.
End recovery
Self heal in attack chain
Crashless nuke
Low resisted damage type

How do you think it will play?

It's nice, very nice.

One of the few negative things you can say it about it is the relatively weak AoE output (compared to most other Scrapper sets). But you can't have everything, and this combo has a heck of a lot of nice things already.

I have a 50 DM/SD/Blaze that uses a build close to one of the ones that Santorican posted in another thread. I am not finished with IOing him out, but even now he is a beast. As far as AoE goes, I have all I need: Jump in a big group -> Soul Drain -> Fireball -> Shield Charge -> Look around at all the carnage.

I kind of regret having fire ball until we're able to color tint it, it doesn't fit well with my concept.

I know what you mean. It will be nice when I can eventually tint it to a dark blue to match my other powers.

Minus the Fireball I do the same thing, and then beat the hell out of the Boss that survived and then laugh at the blaster that got 2 attacks in. Rinse and repeat.

But then again, I'm always running ahead of the tank on teams since I don't actually need him to "handle the agro" My scrapper can survive *amn near more sh*t than the average tank.

Flooring the mob before the rest of the team gets there: Priceless.
Having the team comment on all the ghost bodies on the ground disappear as they approach: Priceless.
Having 2-6 people on every team you run with ask you to send them your build: Priceless.
Having those 2-6 people look at it and go "I can't afford that": Also Priceless.

I used to say DM/SD's weakness was the AoE department, but when Shield Charge got buffed that went away too. Now I feel my character has no lacking department...except that he's still missing one piece to be complete (cough Glad's armor unique cough)

I actually use Soul Drain first attack the bosses with saturated AAO and SD making short work of them and then hitting SC and FB before SD wears off.

I have started doing similar recently. The only difference is that I just take the bosses down far enough for SC & FB to finish them off. It is truly insane damage.

Edit: When I am farming for purples (-1x8, no bosses) I stick with SD>FB>SC. Very rarely is anything standing after that.

I was on a team the other day and the Tank was a bit timid, so I said what the hell....I can handle it. So I jumped in and soul drain and shield charge. Waxed the boss up after and lived. The team leader told me to not do that again, that is the tanks job. C'mon he was waiting and then just herding to a corner. It was like 2 minutes in between mobs. Yeah enough time for my shield charge and soul drain to recharge...but c'mon. I quit the team soon after and apologized to the team leader and said the style of play just wasn't for me.

I've run into this problem quite often over the years. Due to the fact that I play my tanks and scrappers similarly I find it very annoying to scrap on a team with a timid tank and and then have people whine about me being the first one it.

Because of the fact that roughly 60% of the tanks I have ever teamed with are just too slow to move ahead, or to squishy to take the beating that my scrappers can take I tend to build my scrappers more on the survivability side than +global rech. That being said I don't have a scrap with less than 47.5% rech...

I've found that on those teams with a less than capable tank that because I consistently keep jumping in first and actually survive better than the tank (and floor most mobs before they get there SD/SC) that most teams will adapt to the new situation where their tank is outmatched by a scrapper and let me lead. However if a tanker is competent and durable I try to respect that and let him do what he needs to do even if he is a smidgen slow (usually) as long as it doesn't affect the 5 second rule... which there are exceptions to. As we say in the Marine Corps, "situation dictates".

Thats why I either team with friends or just solo at +8 because 75% of tankers out there are inexperienced, too slow, or love to herd, I hate herding. Besides I get more drops that way and it makes life more fun.
