Installed New Motherboard & Now Game Runs Slow

Issue is exactly as the title says. My motherboard fried so I had it replaced. Exact same processor as before, an AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-56. Only now the game loads incredibly slow.

To get specific the issue occurs after I select a server. It takes forever to bring up the character selection screen. Eventually, once I select which character I want to use, it takes a ridiculous amount of time to load the zone I'm in.

Has anyone else had similar issues that would enable them to provide a possible solution? I really wanna get back to the game. Thanks for any help in advance

question: did you re-install your operating system when you switched to a new motherboard?

Even if your using the exact same motherboard, with the same exact same processor, you'll still need to reinstall your Operating System. What's probably happened is Microsoft is using the default generic drivers on the backend now since the hardware has changed, rather than using the accelerated drivers for your northbridge and storage solution.

Since you mention it is an AMD mobile processor, you might want to look at the bios settings and try turning off 'Cool n Quiet'. I think this is the setting that lets the machine throttle back the CPU.

We don' need no stinkin' signatures!

Yeah I did reinstall the operating system. Never thought that it might've fallen back on the generic drivers. Any idea how to check that out with Windows Vista *Shudder!*

If you have the disk that came with the motherboard it would probably be easier to load the disk up and see if it has specific drivers for your motherboard.

There also is another issue that could be at hand.

Depending on how your previous motherboard fried, it is possible that it has done a number on your hard-drives connecting cable, or might have generated errors on the hard-drive itself.

You can somewhat check this by clicking on start, clicking on the little white box just above the start button, and typing in CMD

Hit enter and this should bring up the command terminal.

In the command terminal type in : chkdsk /f /r

Hit enter, and it will probably say something about volume is unmountable. Hit Y for, Yes, you want to schedule a scan on the next reboot, and restart the computer.

Now, unless you've got really fast eyes you probably won't be able to see the results of the test. You can, however, check it later with these instructions: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-x...ort/866643.htm / http://www.vistax64.com/software/978...ile-vista.html

If you've got bad sectors, plan on buying a new hard-drive.

I don't think the hard drive is damaged in any way because I haven't had any other performance problems. Haven't even seen any weird behavior when doing anything except trying to run CoX. I'm gonna hunt for any new drivers that may've been released and see if installing 'em does any good.

Please keep the advice coming everyone.
