Ideas for post-50 content.
I've never ever played wow before but from what I hear the raid dungeons are pretty cool, big massive npc's to kill that takes the power of several teams to accomplish, a COX version of that would be sweet I think. Especially with the awesome look the devs give the giant monsters so far.
Ok guys we all know that a lot of the ideas that are implemented into the game come from players themselves. So lets get our minds working and pump out some ideas! Criticism is ok as long as its constructive. So dont just say "That is stupid and will never work." Ok, so to get this ball rolling I'll shoot out an idea.
Ok we already have two builds available to us right? Well, lets expand on that. My idea is that when you get to 50 you unlock a new build. But this is a special build. This build will start over at lvl 1 and allow you to choose a new powerset to use. NOTE: This would not be like now where the levels between your builds are the same, the new build would start at lvl1 again. Also, when that build hits 50 you get to choose a new build, and ect. Thus, this would allow you to expand upon your heros current abilities without cheating the system. |
Please expand.

It sounds a lot like being able to roll an alt, but retain the current name, costume unlocks and badges. Since you specified that the new "build" would start at L1, that is.
I do have a L50 that has been retired for quite a long time that I would like to have made with a different Secondary. (Willpower would have been better, but it wasn't around at the time) The only thing keeping him from deletion is his badges, many of which you can't get anymore, like the 1st anniversary one. And a bit of sentimental value.
Unless you are talking about something completely different. Something like where instead of a Primary and a Secondary powerset, you would get a Primary and be able to grab powers willy-nilly from two different Secondary sets. That, I think, would be a bit crazy. And I would vote no.
[QUOTE=BBQ_Pork;2377755]The way I read it:

This is pretty much what I was thinking, except that you could always go to a trainer and play your old build if you want.

Example is my psionicist, Kitsune Vixen. Her main build is an Empath/Psi defender, but she is also capable for more focussed psionic attacks (Psi/Mental Blaster) and she's also a skilled martial artist (MA/SR or Willpower Scrapper).
Having three different characters is a bit of a pain, so atm I have the Defender and the Blaster version (I deleted the old blaster at damn level 32 to make way for the damn scrapper and ended up damn deleting the damn thing damn anyway! /still bitter)
Starting over from 1 on the same character would be nice. Given build switching is on a 15 minute timer as it is...thats actually longer than logging out and switching toons, so..hardly exploitable.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I approve of that.

"Samual_Tow - Be disappointed all you want, people. You just don't appreciate the miracles that are taking place here."
This is similar to what I though Keldians would be like. We would have our original primary, but with a ability to change form to use branching secondaries. Once we hit 50, that character could be rerolled as a Keld like in the comic.

More high end "raids" would be nice. But I think unlike Hamidon they would need to be more WoW like, I hate saying that for this game. They should be something like a TF that requires multiple teams, say 24 players total (3 teams), to complete but instead of just killing one giant monster (Hamidon) there would be an entire story arc devoted to them. I'd even open them up, or at least some of them, to be cross faction so villains and heroes can partake. Perhaps something threatening the fabric of the interdimensional Pocket D.
Beyond that, let's see what Going Rogue brings as I suspect that will add some high end content.
50s - Energyman, Elec^3 Blaster - Light Bringer Prime, Triform PB - OxyStorm, Robo/Storm/Mace MM - Widow Lotone, NW - Psi-Vox, Ill/FF/Earth Control
I want base raids again. I know it's not gonna happen soon....but a gy can dream.....inter-server PvP would be cool but I have no idea what sort of logistics that would require so it may be impossible.
It would also actually be kind of cool to be able to "raid" other servers.

The monster could be, oh, I don't know, some huge gelatious blob with a purple thing in the center, and yellow, blue and green orbs in there that shoot at you.
Oh, wait. We already have that. http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Hamidon_Raid
Yeah, it would be great if we had some big challenge, maybe for 45+ characters, where you had to have 40 or 50 characters in several carefully organized teams, to overcome some overwhelmingly huge monster that threatens the very existence of Paragon City.

I think that's the point. We need more monster raids of the Hami class. However the WoW raids are more story driven, you have to go through a dungeon, take out dozens of mobs, a couple sub bosses, then fight the big monster. I think it would be nice if CoX did something similar with smaller 24 man max raids against let's say a 5th Column base where at the end you actually have to fight that giant Robot of theirs. Or perhaps a Circle of Thorns map where at the end some sort of giant ancient mystic evil is awaken that must be stopped.
Heck they don't all have to be giant, just something that takes larger than 8 man teams to fight but has some defined limit so there aren't 100+ people in there. Keep it big but not too big. Give it a little bit of a story and mission that goes with it so it's not just "go kill the big monster" like with Hami and then make it level 50ish so that it's high end content. Have it drop it's own unique enhancements ala Hami, or give out some higher end recipies, a badge, etc, etc. I know this game isn't WoW, and I don't want it to be, and for the record I like the Hami raid, but I think it could work if we took some of those WoW concepts and implimented them in game.

Personally I would love to see some of those 24 man story driven raids, but it would be nice if they started at a lower level than 50 especially since we can always exemp to see things that we pass up.
I think it would be great if the hellions accidently summoned something they couldn't handle (maybe something like the envoy of shadows?), and you needed a large group to go in and clean it up.
Also showing you needing 24 heroes to take out an enemy in the lower levels (15 - 30) and then giving you the same enemy later and letting you take him with 8 or less people would really add to the feeling that your heroes are increasing in power as they level.
