Some corr questions

Hello everyone, i'm thinking of making a assault rifle/rad corr. When i wanted to make the build on mids i noticed some stuff i'd like to ask.

Does the defence shield from the poatron powers accept resistance sets? ( mids sais it gives toxic res but cant be slotted for it)

Is the combo of recall friend- fallout-mutation good ingame or just on paper?

Is there an aoe i could skip from the primary ( I have a rather big shortage of power picks when making this guys build)

I'm going to solo and team, can i skip burst or slug or do i need them both?(talking about lv 50, not about leveling up)

I'm aiming this to be a very expensive build, hasten and am perma, after the recharge i can't seem to fit in softcapped defence, what defence should i be aiming for?

Thats all for now, thanks in advance for any replies i'll get

If it says it only takes defense sets then thats what it takes. Unless it explicitly states otherwise.

It is a very wicked combo but if you are aiming for softcapping it may not be worth it to loose a power/pool just for TP friend.

power
AR is a VERY tight set, honestly the only real skipable is burst.

considering the /rad set has alot of pretty wicked debuffs and a heal ,hitting the 30% mark in ranged would be acceptable.

There's plenty skippable in AR.

1. Absolutely skip M30. It's a terrible AoE, really. Twice the recharge time as Buckshot... same damage. Nearly twice the cast time. 50% more endurance cost. Almost three times the unwanted spawn-scattering knockback magnitude. With the recharge you're planning, Buckshot will be on a pretty short timer. M30 will do more harm than good.

2. Ignite is debatable. It's best against AVs and GMs that won't run from it. Stationary objects with tons of hit points, etc. Paired with Black Scorpion's Web Envelope it can be efficient against lower-rank enemies that are tightly packed. Otherwise it's not that great.

3. Sniper Rifle. I think with the lack of a big ST hitter in the set, people are tempted to take this, but snipes really aren't that great for ST dps and slotted for damage, they aren't the best things to use for pulling either. Even if you did soft cap and felt like that would let you get Snipes off in melee, it's still not a great idea. Again, with your recharge, just spam Burst+Slug for better ST dps. Burst also allows slotting of Achilles' Heel -res if you're into that. You might take Sniper Rifle as a set mule, but this is another skippable.

As for soft-capping, I wouldn't knock myself out getting there. Get your 30ish ranged def and call it done.

Only errors I can see and this is my personal opinion. LR is poorly slotted, its got no AC and needs more recharge. Also having an AR/Rad at 50 myself I can tell you, its end heavy even w/ perma AM. Your toggles aint slotted with much end reduction, of course if you don't mind keeping blues in stock. Only time I find myself draining is during AV fights otherwise my AR/Rad does great.

I don't have a purple IO build for mine as its not an active enough to warrant the spending. But was able to get perma AM/Haste. You could maybe shave a couple hundred million down and still keep perma. I also dropped my patron immb as most spawns were dead in seconds due to having FA up so fast.

Overall its a fun powerset combo, have a blast

Most toggles use less endurance than spamming a Tier 1 attack, so you don't want to go nuts on EndRdx. What you have there looks good. If at all possible, you want any spare slots to go to EndRdx in your most often-used attacks.

You've got a ton of +acc and +rech from set bonuses so maybe LR is okay. One thing that might need more accuracy however is Ignite. Unless you rely on rad's -def, Ignite will be missing higher level / higher rank opponents quite alot. It's precisely the targets that Ignite is best used against, AVs and GMs, which will resist those debuffs quite a bit. Remember that it's a pseudo-pet power, so the 2.0x accuracy listed on the power detail is meaningless. The "Flames" pet summoned by this power has normal 1.0x accuracy on its attack. It ticks five times a second, so if you're just looking at the damage numbers floating up it's easy to not notice how much it is missing. Check the combat log and make sure it's showing pet hit rolls. You'll see it there.

Other than that, you might consider Leadership instead of Fighting. Yeah, you're a little tougher with Tough/Weave, but one thing AR really lacks is +tohit. You've got good +acc from IOs but that still won't do very well against enemies with high defense and AR has no Aim. Maneuvers, Tactics, and Vengeance to replace Boxing, Tough, Weave. Vengeance can hold a LOTG +rech, you get some of that defense back, and you get the much needed +tohit, not to mention this helps your teammates as well.

Maybe enough that they won't notice you're carrying three "use on dead teammate" powers.
