Maybe we will see a difference later today cuz I just got us aion... but i doubt it.
You must be mistaken. This simply can't be true. The 5770's JUST were released. As in this month. The 5870 has been out a little bit longer. The 5770 is intended to be a more affordable version of the 5870 & 5850's. I'm still waiting for clear word on the 5870x2 or 59x0 (whatever they are going to call it) to see if it bumps the 5870 prices down.

Your husband may have had another couple recent cards in xFire, but not the 5770 because that would be strange to go out, buy two 5770's two weeks ago and then buy a 5870 this week for about the same price to replace those two cards.

Incorrect.

That is their target for GR's release date. Beta will begin early 2010.

Tbh we might as well hold off buying a new card till when beta starts, at least then we, or some of us would have had the chance to tst the new ultra mode graphics with cards to see how they work on different cards.

that gives me time to save up my cash for a nice shiny new card mid 2010 =D

Am looking at buying an HP Pavilion p6280t customizable Desktop PC;
# Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Quad processor Q8300 [2.5GHz, 4MB L2, 1333MHz FSB]
# 6GB DDR2-800MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMs]
# FREE UPGRADE! 640GB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive from 500GB
# Integrated graphics (Intel(R) Media Accelerator 3100) [VGA]

Then, I wanted to buy a card separately, and to be honest, my head is spinning over Tom's hardware reviews and others I've read. From reading all of the posts here, I'm settled on going with ATI/AMD graphic card, but just not sure which one and more importantly, could my new box handle a crossfire configuration if necessary?

Also, I don't want to go broke, and was looking at the 4000 series from ATI, but now the 5000 series is out (lol like a previous post said, there's always something new), and just wanted to be sure that the card I buy will allow me to play Aion, and Coh GR (my current PC is 6 years old..got it when I first got CoX!).

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Prices got really wonky this holiday season. I'm hoping things make a bit more sense in the wake of the holiday season. But as it stands, even now those 5750's and 5770's are pretty affordable. But availability is currently spotty an all the ATI 5xxx's. Since I plan on giving some of the upcoming DX11 games a go, that hardware tessellation is pretty key IMO. AvP 2010 I'm looking at you, buddy!

Btw, ATI cards have had problems running CoH. I'm not trying to say anything bad about them, but look at the huge thread in the technical forum that's been running for the past two years.
but now the main coh page has the ATI radeon logo down there instead of nvidia. Ultra Mode might be getting programmed around radeon cards instead of nvidia's or something, now. Or maybe they just sent the devs some cool free stuff
