Fire/dark.... crazy for bothering with res? :p
needs more croch and sharkz
Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.
I've been playing Dark Miasma in many forms over the years (Defender, Corr, MM), and I never felt the need for Toughness on any toon. Dark has wonderful mitigation, and with Dark Fluffy out, you get even more to play with.
Epic armor toggle? Sure.
But unless you have power slots to spare, save the power pick and grab something else.
Personally, if it were me, I'd 4-slot Petrifying Gaze with Basilisks (or other IO set, your choice) and grab Hibernate for those SHTF moments (or to recharge endurance). Pet Gaze is great for removing annoying Lts.
Also, not sure if you are 100% sold on inferno, but I would get more milate out of Fire Breath myself. Depends on playstyle, however.
TLR version: never found a need in 5 years of Miasma toons to use Fighting.
53 Bots/FF/Mace Mastermind | 53 NRG/FF/Electricity Defender | 50 Time/Dual Pistols/Soul Defender | 50 Demons/FF/Mace Mastermind | 51 Necro/Dark/Soul Mastermind | 50 Thugs/Time/Mace Mastermind | 50 Ice/Ice/Arctic Tanker | 50 Plant/Rad/Earth Controller | 50 Illusion/Trick Arrow Controller | 50 Gravity/Force Field Controller
Yes, I like Force Fields.
Here I was all poised to go off on another rez-less build on a Dark Miasma, and realized you said reS not reZ. Good job for taking Howling Twilight as early as you did. It's marvelous for stunning, debuffing and coincidentally raising fallen comrades. I mention as I always do, the debuffs are AUTOHIT as is the rez.
Now my wandering eye hits the selection of Fearsome Stare at level 26. It's a bit late for my tastes. With experience, I hope you agree on the nice big cone of tohit debuff and coincidental fear state.
Don't take fighting, your dark miasma makes you a debuffing machine. Share your shadowfall with teammates, it has a hefty resistance to psychic damage. Dropping boxing means you can get darkest night before level 30. Aim really shines in usage previous to two powers: Fearsome Stare and Inferno.
Finally, there are some patron powers worth taking if you wanted to plan around taking 3 travel set powers in the 40s.
Triumphant Defenders Forever
Psylenz FF/Psi, ArticQuark Storm/Rad, Symon BarSisyphus Bots/psn, Max VanSydow Thugs/Dk, Cyclone Symon Bots/stm, Blue Loki Ice/Cd, Widow 46526
HelinCarnate:OMG it is so terrible. I have the option to take 3 more powers but no additional slots. Boo F'ing hoo.
I have to agree with taking Fearsome Stare earlier as well. Fearsome Stare is a great power and one of the few that I will take at level 20 instead of Stamina when it becomes available. I always cheer whenever any of my /darks hits 20th and I can get that power. You run up to the spawn, glare at everyone harshly enough to put the fear of corruptors into them and then you can walk around them all as carefree as Hiro Nakamura across a busy highway at rush hour.
Here I was all poised to go off on another rez-less build on a Dark Miasma, and realized you said reS not reZ.

As for fearsome stare, I don't mind getting it a little later mainly because I'll either be doing 50 content or if I do run sfs, I'll always have lvl 30 powers or higher (don't plan on doing cappers :P).
The whole slotting for res thing was just kinda out of boredom. I have like 5 diff builds for the toon mainly because it's such a fun one. Few of my in game friends have already told me it's not worth it, just wanted to see what people had to say. I'll probably go back to taking breath of fire, and grabbing power sink. Thanks for responding though
As to the REAL reason I'll be leaving, I'm afraid it is indeed because Tamaki Revolution dc'd on me during a RSF.
If I was building Resistance based Corruptor I would not got with Dark. Dark has a lot of tools that are just to much fun to play with.
Instead I chose Sonic. A friend of mine described my Fire/Sonic build as going the hardway. Since I did not take any healing powers. But other than a few oh$hit moments here and there as I leveled up things went smoother than I anticpated. Once I got a little armored up and Started my IO project the character really took off. So much so that getting to the PPP armor did not take to long. Since getting the PPP armor and its Resistance was a large part of the concept I could not wait and pushed on over the last two weeks.
Now that I am L44 the character has fully come into its own. I know its a very niche concept character. As the concept was to build out an Armored Corruptor. I also have this in the characters BIO. Few read it. Most cannot figure out how I am the last one standing on the team or that I have more S/L resistance than the average Brute.
This is not a concept for everyone but given how long I have played the game it was a fun diversion to try to build to this specific goal. While I had fun and am enjoying the rewards of the long wait its not a project or concept for everyone.
Concept and focus was getting the most useful resistance possible S/L and Energy with a secondary focus on ranged Defense.

Up late working on random builds for random toons. I've never taken fighting on a squishy before, and I was wondering if it was even worth it? Made this build with decent s/l res, but should I just worry about ranged def? I looked at a few ranged def builds on the corr forum and the slotting/power choices were not my style at all.
Mainly would just use this toon for farming (wouldn't be a main farm toon, just something to use when I'm bored), or for running speed sfs. Inf isn't a big deal at all.... just bored and want something to work on. So back to the main question, should I even bother?
