And Now For Something Completely Different

You know, its pretty darn neat when you can surprise yourself. All semester, I was somehow pretty darn sure I would fail in my Figure Drawing course once we started studying the face and doing portraits. I just NEVER do realistic faces or have bothered to try much. Its a big shortcoming I was afraid to face.

But... apparently...

My first stab at it wasn't too bad.

I know its not CoH, but I'm sort of shocked and rather pleased! Thought I would share.

Critiques are still fine, and I'm still in the process of learning!

Oh that looks nice reminds me of roman stuff.

I suppose if I was a deep, insightful person full of wisdom and depth I'd say something about how the fear of something is always worse than the facing of it or some crap...

But deep down inside I'm basically as shallow as a dried out wading pool so I'll just say Nice Job!

Looks very nice! But nothing that couldn't be made better by drawing on a superhero mask

Thanks everyone!

And for those reminded of Roman copies of Greek statues... that's what it is. I believe this particular bust was of just the head of the Venus of Milo. It was large size, so good to work on for a first go with portraits. I couldn't fit it all on the scanner (the image on dA is stiched together as it is), but if you could see the whole piece, you could tell it was a bust statue, as I sketched in the base so the drawing wouldn't be floating around in space.
