Dusting off my lvl 50 Claws/Nin (returning player)

Just recently returned from a 1 year hiatus of CoX. Around the time I left I remember hearing something about Claws getting a buff (a believe to it's DPS) but I left before implementation. I thought about dusting him off but first wanted to get a feel for what to expect.

I don't see many claws/ threads so i'm assuming it is still pretty unpopular? I do see a lot of Claws/Brutes, why the disparity?

It seems like part of the appeal of */Claws is the speed of the set. However, as a Stalker I find gameplay is a bit "hurry up and wait" (in so much as you have a very formulaic approach to combat, and it feels like you are constantly waiting on AS/Buildup/Placate to be recharged). This runs a bit contrary to Claws and may be the reason.

Or, it may have to do with the numbers, or that most Claws concepts would now seem to work better as a Brute... No idea, really.

Where are claws current ranking among the other stalker primaries? Still at the bottom I assume?

How would one even come up with such a thing?

My old main was a Claws/Nin stalker that I took to 50 and played quite a lot. This was before the i12 changes hit and I took a break from my main and the game for a few reasons:

Claws/ is all lethal damage typed. At 50 in CoV, nearly all the mob types you run up against have insane lethal resist. It got to the point that the only time I really felt powerful as a Claws/ stalker at 50 was when I was up against carnies. I just got irritated that nearly all mob types would resist about 20-50% of my lethal-typed AS damage.

There are times I do miss the stalker playstyle, especially stalker version of claws because the set has a good mix of burst damage and damage over time, and it used to have a good mix of single and aoe damage. But, eviscerate was changed to affect only one target instead of as a cone aoe. Good and bad change, but it really does suck when your best aoe damage is no longer an aoe.

When coming back, I went with brute claws simply because fury's damage bonus is enough to bypass late level mob lethal resistances.

Current Project: Hard Goodbye, StJ/Nin
Retired: Blitzwulf, Claws/Nin (50); Perdition's Blade, Night Widow (50)

Spin is one of the bigger reasons. Claws for Brutes (and Scrappers) is a strong AoE set. It also has Follow-Up for a consistent DPS boost.

For Stalkers it doesn't have much going for it that other sets don't also provide. It is a better set overall since the tweaks. It's a solid set, not like before when people called it "Clawlz".

Eviscerate was changed into a single-target attack. The downside is that you can't hit multiple targets with it anymore. The upside is that it crits reliably from hide now, so the set has a big hitter other than AS to use after Placate.
