Some Advice for WM/DA, please.

I've decided that I'm going to make another /Dark Armour toon, a Brute this time and was considering what to pair it with. I've already got a lowbie Dark/Stone Tank and I know how great Fault and OG are together but I figure it is better suited for a Tanktroller than a Brute anyway.

So I decided War Mace would be a good fit. It has a chance to stun, right? I also hear it does pretty decent damage. I don't know much about the War Mace side of things so I come to this board in hopes that some War Mace users will enlighten me.

Thank you.

It can stun yes. Clobber and um, the 2nd attack (I cant remember the name as I'm @ work) can both disorient. Also crowd control and shatter both can knockdown. War Mace has excellent mitigation as an offensive set.

Note that paired with DA it will be an endurance hog. End redux and recovery io set bonuses will help once built, but at lower level be sure to carry lots of blues.

Yeah, I've got a pocket Kin pacted with the toon and I've found that careful slotting and the Theft of Essence proc mitigate the worst of the endurance problems. Would it be worth it to forgo Jawbreaker to pick up two first two attacks?

Trying to stack stuns with WM is not a very good idea. The first two attacks have a tiny chance to stun (10% and 20% respectively) so they're useless for that purpose. Clobber is a guaranteed mag 3 stun so you could stack it with OG on bosses but meh, mezzing one boss ain't much of a deal for a brute.

End usage will be horrible.

If you want to go WM/DA play WM as you would with any other toon, and just perhaps stack clobber with OG. Skipping Jawbreaker for the first two attacks is a baaaaad idea.

Any idea what Whirling's chance to stun is?

Thanks for the recommendation. I went with Jawbreaker and whatever the harder hitting out of the two is, anyway.

30%. You could get a few mobs if you saturate it, but that's still crap IMO. Although, Whirling is a decent attack so take it anyway.

Well, I always prefer to have both the first and second attack while leveling, my attack chain is much more filled that way. The usual incentive to go with the stronger of the two was because of late game where the weakest one is superfluous, but with abundant free/vetspecs and dual builds that ain't an issue anymore... I usually respec/branch to second build at 33 and kick the weakest one out if the rest of the attacks are enough. In some sets, they aren't, but in WM, they are IIRC.

I have a 50 WM/SD. I found that dropping Bash after aquiring Shatter (around lvl 26?) left me with enough of an attack chain to keep decent dps.

Crowd Control > Clobber > Shatter > Jawbreaker > Pulverize > REPEAT, can mop up a decent herd of mobs.

Whirling Mace is handy. I use it when herding/farming. Some builds don't take it, guess it's a matter of preferance.
