Quick dirty system.

My sister in law asked for some recommendations on a system she is building that would "play CoH and web games".

I threw together a quick list at Newegg and was wondering if anyone could give it the once over.

Looks good.

If you want to save her some money the only thing I would change is the vid card. it's a good card but will be a 3rd of the price next year.

I just upgraded my Gforce 7200 to a (9400 GT it cost me $50.00 Cdn and will support basically anything out there I'm going to play on the internet. I haven't seen a game yet that it wont support, even brand new games. It ran Champions Online just fine and the requirements for that game were quite high. Just a thought, some dont mind spending the extra dough for a top of the line card and that's fine it's just my preference to save a little on the vid cards as they can be pricey, and generally come down in price alot within a year of launch.

Also does the case come with a power supply?

Did you decide on a CPU and cooling system?

Throw in a case fan to keep it cool as well and it will live longer. That vid card is going to get hot.

As a matter of personal preference I also like to add in a multi card reader on the front of the case too for camaera mem cards and mem sticks.

Have fun building a system at home is alot of fun to tinker with, and not all that difficult.

The CPU is on the list (AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition). She said she had the case, PSU, and monitor she wanted already so I advised her to make sure the PSU was 650w (just a guess would love confirmation or correction).

I would HIGHLY suggest taking a look at FatherXmas' signature, he has links to two very well thought out systems, one for roughly $600 and one for roughly $1200.

*Edit* here are the links.

$600 = http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...Number=3829929

$1200 = http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...Number=5117031
*note* this system is currently priced just over $1000 due to prices droping.

Don't see anything I would disagree with.

I would double check to make sure your sister in law's case is full size, as in it can fit an ATX motherboard. Just to be on the safe side.

She let me know what she planned to buy already and I updated the new egg list based on her Tiger Direct list...still saving here a few hundred.
