If you are using Firefox you can always use the Zombie Skin as a work around till they do fix it.
it seems fixed now? I don't see that grey bar at the bottom of the avatars anymore.
I believe it's fixed on the Hero skin, but not the Villain skin.

Well, that was a fix that happened between when the OP was posted and when I posted, so hopefully with another nudge they'll fix it on the villain skin.

Nice, it does appear fixed! It wasn't as of yesterday morning, so perhaps my PM helped. Or not, who knows 
I'm getting pretty tired of the gray background on transparent avatar images. The fix is literally a millisecond's worth of work.
What red-name do I nag to get this fixed? It looks horrible.
