Can someone maybe suggest areas where the trolls don't usually hang out?

Just realize that people are stupid, in general. When they're getting beat at something, they magically become even more stupid. And a very large number of them have not matured yet, and so you get to add wacky entitlements and weird views of the world to the stupidity. Basically, it's a recipe for disaster if you pay any attention to most of the chat happening in a PVP zone.

Not to mention they have complete anonymity and an alter-ego as badass as they want to hide behind. The perfect storm of online idiocy.
Also that is not every PvP'r I've been in zone when it's been like that, and when it's been fun and cordial. Just depends on who is there, and who your fighting. Freedom AC is a blast cause it just gets ridiculously funny. Take what they say at no importance and just try to see the humor in the fact that they say it would be my first advice, my second would to be as Aggelakis sugested and close your chat windo or turn off broadcast.

Yes, the stupid comments seem to be remembered more, as do the bad experiences. But on the other hand, most of the interactions I've had since COV and the PVP zones came out have been positive - I see "gg" or "gf" more often than stupid comments.
Of course, being all of two letters, it's easier to miss as well. *shrug*
Find a group that's more focused on PVP and join them, if you want to concentrate on PVP. Yes, there'll be some trash talk but 85% of the time it's in good fun. (The other 15% is from a minority of the population that *just won't shut up.*)
And still do some PvP? Perhaps in the Arena with some friends who actually want to have an honest, friendly, and fair competition.

I am primarily a villain player, I ended up making a hero once my villain made it to 50. I'm using a Broadsword / Willpower Scrapper (strangely enough, he's rather resilient... so I guess he's a Scranker?) and despite viciously mauling people with my Scranker in PvP, I get a lot of insults tossed my way about not playing a scrapper right, and a few about lifestyle and such. Now... this continues for a while, and eventually, I ignore him. Then some other guy my Scranker mauls in PvP starts the same thing... so I ignore him too.
What's the community deteriorating to when fun, honest competition becomes a reason to spew hate?
